I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday to attach to his Char-Griller Dual Fuel BBQ. He smoked a large roast using it and it was so delicious. Tender, juicy and had a nice smoke ring on it. The reason I give it a 4 instead of 5 star rating is because the paint at the top of the lid melted off with 1 use exposing the steel. We have the Char-Griller cover that covers all of the BBQ and this Side Fire Box, so hopefully it won't start to rust. Other than the paint issue, this is a great little fire box.

I've had a Chargriller dual fuel grill for 10 years and finally put the fire box on. I followed the instructions, sprayed vegetable oil inside and out seasoning the grill. During that process the paint on top the grill started to blister, crack and come off. The next day I dumped the ash pan and noticed the grate had a spot weld broken and a piece hanging. On the weekend I smoked a rack of ribs a chicken which turned out excellent. Later that evening the entire inside grate was collapsed. The grate is what the charcoal sits on and is an internal component of the grill so that is a poor design and should not have happened.

This is one of the best portable grills I've ever used. The efficient design delivers even heat and the removable ash tray is easy to empty and clean. You can use charcoal or wood, making this an ideal camping grill. It is sturdy and well-designed.

Heavy duty, not a light weight grill. Added a temp gauge for obvious reasons. Relatively easy to assemble with easy directions. The slide out charcoal tray makes loading and cleaning easy. Follow all directions and take the time to season the grill with vegetable oil. Would buy again.

Took some tools and removal of the side filler doors on the main grill and left side of the firebox to connect, after that I seasoned the grates and started cooking. You get a bit of a heat spike when you first add the charcoal and wood for smoking after that it levels off and is easy to control adding a bit of coal at time as needed. Cooked a great 5 pound brisket smoking with pistachio wood. Soaking the wood first and letting it drain let’s it smoke more evenly.
