I had my first one like this over 45 years ago. Only one of the features was the idea of saving charcoal, by closing the lid after cooking. this one has too many air holes so the charcoal would continue to burn to an ash even with the lid closed. i took care of that problem by sealing the holes with Pop-Rivets. So my new one saves charcoal as well as my original. I just dump the grate of used charcoal through a sifter, shake it and re-use it adding more as needed.

This is my favorite style of charcoal grill. I like the fact I can adjust the grate up and down and also use more or less charcoal. I've purchased more expensive charcoal grills and had to use a whole bag of charcoal just to get the heat up to the grate. There was no flexibility to move the grate and use less charcoal. I'm glad I found this grill. I've had two of them in the past and really liked them.
