Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law Magick is a voluminous tome that brings together all four parts of Aleister Crowley's Book 4 (Including Magick in Theory and Practice and the Equinox of the Gods) into one volume. The advantages of this are enormous; whenever I first began studying these esoteric doctrines long ago, I actually had Parts I & II (which Weiser also publishes as a separate volume) for perhaps five years before I found a copy of Part III Magick in Theory and Practice. These books are almost never found in most bookstores and virtually never in used book shops. Thus, having the complete set in one book is a major boon to anyone looking to learn more about Thelema or the occult in general. In this version, the text has been restored to a more pristine version and annotated by Hymenaeus Beta. The footnotes section by itself is nearly large enough to merit publication in it's own volume if it weren't so much more useful here. What were once grainy, shadowy photos of Crowley doing various yogic Asana practices have been fully restored. I was blown away by how much that actually helps. In conclusion, I would like to say that if you're interested in buying this book you will probably rather enjoy it. From the moment you start reading the introduction one is entertained, and enlightened. Some parts of it will not be easy to understand at first, but with a little intelligent application and perserverence you will find that you suddenly understand more of this book than you used to and you will eventually find that this is an endless process with this book, as with other Crowley books. As you learn more, it seems as though your books are evolving with you. Ultimately, de gustibus non disputandum (of tastes there is no dispute) and I would be well advised to take Crowley's lead: "Don't believe me: Find out for yourself!" Love is the law, love under will.Read full review
