Perfect train set under my Christmas tree to go along with my Disney theme with Disney dept. 56 Christmas village and Disney ornaments. Very entertaining for kids with remote bells, whistle, talking mickey, music and real smoke out the stack. The great Lionel quality keeps this train running and on the track.

The product ran a round the track but the cars keep coming uncoupled. They do not clasp together very well at all and I am most disappointed. I am not sure how to bend the plastic clips and will have to seek expert advice. If I could return it I would.

THE GOOD: The train looks great and very reminicant of the Hogwarts express from the movies. If your a Harry potter fan then buy this set and get the Department 56 collection to place around it. Looks amazing!! The engine is solid and feels well built. Whistle and bell are exactly like in the movie. All looks super cool. The train itself astheticslly I give it 5 Stars. It looks and sounds amazing! THE BAD: Recordings of charter voices isn’t very clear. Train occasionally details, I wish after 100 years of design that Lionel came up with a better way to keep trains from derailing and keep the electrical connection right. I think I put too much Lionel smoke fluid in because it leaked out on to the track it seems because it’s oily under the car. My fault but I need clear instructions of how much to use and an indicator would be nice. After 100 years of design they can’t build a indicator? THE UGLY: Rubber wheel came of the wheel after nine days and I had to bring it to an authorized warranty shop. Two weeks for the repair. So I’m pretty upset that after nine days the train engine is in the shop. I’m upset that they don’t have a system to keep the fluid from leaking out from the bottom and getting in the track. That’s ubaurd, why wouldn’t they just have a system that it shows that it’s full towards the top so that it doesn’t just start leaking out onto the track and making the track dirty? better yet why don’t they just have a system that does not allow it to leak out onto the track and over-flows out the top so that your visually seeing that you overfilled it ?? I had to then clean the track off with a rag and 99% ipsypropal alcohol to take carbon scoring off of the tracks and clean it up. It should not be this problematic after only nine days of use. Overall the train looks great and the train sounds great I just wish that it wasn’t so delicate and that it didn’t derail so easily and that a little bit of smoke fluid would not basically take the whole system down to the point hat I I have to take it to the shop. It’s just too delicate and really needs to be built tougher, which is even more reason I would never consider HO gauge. With all that said I still recommend buying it just be careful what you do with it when you have it. This train set is NOT for children at all.Read full review
