This is a wonderful CPU for an old ThinkPad T440p-- its speed rivals modern i7 processors (and is even faster, in some cases!) but lacks the ability to sip power and thus has inferior battery life when compared to newer chips. Still, though, for a laptop which is docked and/or powered most of the time, this is a no-brainer upgrade, especially when you can get it for $69 like I did. Check out PassMark CPU benchmarks to see how fast this chip is; its single-threaded performance is very similar to that of my brand new MacBook Pro's i7 chip! Not only that, but it's quad-core too. A great chip, I highly recommend it.

The processor is easy to install and is not very hot. However, amongst Intel i7 processors, it is average. It is a good i7 processor for a laptop as it stays cool.

If you have computer building experience, it is a pretty easy install -- just get the service manual and follow it carefully. This is not for the newbie, but is also not really difficult. Use a reasonable amount of good thermal compound and this 47W TDP will run the same temp as the 37W you replace since Dell used way too much on both the CPU and NVIDIA GPU.

After replacing my Core I5 to this CPU in my HP zBook 17 G2, I saw a big improvement in speed when booting up my machine and in games. Great CPU to have for the zBook 17 G1 and G2

its pretty fast but not the fastest 4th gen., I replaced it with a faster 4910MQ because the 4910MQ got way too hot and the fan was always on, the 4810MQ is a tad slower but doesnt heat up as fast. And thats good for editing video. Sometimes my laptop would crash for being too hot and it wasted a lot of time, but now with the 4810MQ it doesnt do that. I guess you have to sacrifice speed for heat so I chose the first.
