Great renditions of classic Cole Porter songs by contemporary artists of the time, with their own musical styles. It was a benefit for AIDS research back in the day and includes Annie Lennox, Elvis Costello, Sinead O'Connor, Lisa Stansfield, Blondie, Tom Waits to name a few. I had this on cassette and recently found a player and when I heard it again I had to search it out, brought back great memories. It's wonderful to have it again to play whenever I want. It's really great.

This CD is utterly worthless except for one fantastic song by U2 that is out-of-print and never available elsewhere except here. Cole Porter was a genius but this CD now sounds dated and extremely pretentious and is largely an embarrassment to his legacy.

Different takes on great songs.
Some of the songs don't work, but for me the ones that do, make this album worth it. Neneh Cherry does a great job as do The Fine Young Cannibals and The Thompson Twins (and I don't even like any of their regular songs!).
