It was easy to insall and use...the extended USB cable that comes with it is too thin and the device can't work more than 1-2 minutes...you need to plug it directly in the USB port or with a good quality male to female USB cable extention. Also you gotta be careful with the EasyCAP USB device because if you accidentally move it while it's plugged in, it will shut off and you need to start your recording from the beginning. Also you gotta have a good RCA male to male cable if you want to connect your VCR to EasyCAP because in my case it seems to flicker.

This thing is dirt cheap, so I figured why not. It... sort of... works? I could convert VHS to digital with it, but it would VERY frequently create (or dramatically amplify) errors that aren't visible when watching back the VHS on a television. The audio also goes out of sync quickly, if using it as intended. You can work around this if you run your audio into mic/aux instead. If you are only converting a few things where maintaining good quality for extended periods of time isn't vital, it might be a fairly solid deal depending on your very specific needs. That said, if you are looking to preserve footage that is important to you, I would strongly recommend you find something better, as I am looking to do. It was only $10, though, so not the end of the world.

The item came with poor instructions. A serial number (key code) is required to make it work...but they didn't tell you the number was in a file that you had to find after the software was installed! Then the free editing program that was included was pretty poor so I ended up using "OBS" a good free shareware program but to get the audio working requires some special settings that took me a long time to figure out. However, once everything was set up the device did do what it said it would do, convert my old 8mm tapes to digital files :-)!

I bought the Product. It was of little cost, easy to use. I have a Sony Handycam and it took all my old movies from it and i converted them with the included Softwear. I would recommend it for anyone who has older video tapes to convert. Thank you for a great product.

I wasn't sure what to expect for $15.50, but I bought it anyhow. Installed easily with Windows 10. Hooked up to my old camcorder (RCA jacks) and transferred some old videos to my laptop. Easy to use, good quality. It saves as .mpg or .wmv ... but to use with iphones and text messages, it needs to be mp4. So I used a free online converter to go from .mpg to .mp4. Maybe an easier way, but it worked good for me. The "product key" is the code on the yellow software disk. It took me a bit to figure that out. You'll need to enter that key when you first run the software.
