Great classic on essential oils and how to use them by Jean Valnet. I read somewhere that the original French text was published in the 60s, and this English translation was recommended to someone like me on Tony P's podcast as a "good place to start". I enjoyed the book from cover to cover and learned a lot. I still refer to it quite often. Coming from the background of using herbs and tinctures (also a lifetime gardener), this was a wonderful book for learning how I can incorporate essential oils for common health issues such as cold, flu, etc. (I love trying things out on myself first, and then recommend to friends and family if it works on me at least.) So much information in one place - from scientific information to anecdotes and observations, from single oil 'cures' to complex formulas, I found this book delightful. This is not the typical pretty aromatherapy book you find at the book stores that are filled with colorful charts and beautifully curated photos of flowers and oil bottles etc. This unassuming book with a lovely cover is a real treasure for most anyone's alternative health library.
