I'd seen these workout programs on youtube and very much liked them. I wanted to have the higher quality of having them on DVD so I purchased this. Veena and Neena are excellent at taking belly dance moves and making effective workouts out of them. That isn't to say that belly dancing on it's own isn't an effective way to get in better shape, but, even as a seasoned belly dancer myself, I simply enjoy just following an easy routine that is truly designed to target muscle groups and up my fitness level. This is where I feel Veena and Neena excel. There are two programs here. Each is about 1/2 hour long, which fits well into my life. If I have less time, I easily can shorten the program and I still feel like I got a workout. The programs here are more slanted towards toning, rather than aerobics, though there is a part in the buns and thighs section that will get your blood pumping. I like the programs here for days I still want to do some kind of exercise, but don't have the energy for a higher impact aerobic workout or don't have the mind-set to follow a choreography learning program. I also like Veena and Neena's offerings because I find regular exercise very boring and I don't really stick with it. I've always liked to belly dance and have stuck with that. Veena and Neena found a way to bring the interesting aspects of belly dance into an effective workout format. This is their specialty. This is easy to follow along with and if you've never done belly dance you will be able to move and follow, however explanation of intricate break down does not exist here - if it did it would ruin the flow and effect. If you are interested in learning belly dance and have never taken any classes or followed a belly dance move break down DVD, I recommend getting a DVD that is more complete in explanation. Something from Jillina, Fahtiem or Sadie would likely serve you well. This is still a great DVD to have...if even you are beginning...I'd just recommend something else to go along with it if you are anxious to really understand the exact mechanics of belly dance basic moves. If you are a more advanced belly dancer, you might be like me and find yourself enjoying how Veena and Neena take belly dance moves and make effective exercise programs out of them that are easy to follow along with. And yes, you might even learn some different moves you can add to your performances within their programs.Read full review
This DVD was mostly strength training and not enough cardio for my taste but overall it's an effective workout. At first it was pretty easy but eventually they did some floor movements that were a bit too hard for me since I can't hold my body weight very well. I got frustrated and turned off the DVD, so I don't recommend it for very overweight or out of shape people. I think once I'm in better shape I will try it again because it seems like it could be a good workout. I recommend this for those that are in decent shape but want something a little different. And in no way should you expect to learn much bellydancing from this DVD.
Great video for beginners! The fitness moves are easy to follow and I was surprise that you get a intense workout. I enjoyed the music and the moves prepares you for learning the essential belly dancer moves. I found the arms and abs session was more difficult than the hips, thigh buns session and that may be because I am in the beginning stages of fitness so I believe it will get easier as time goes on.
The "Belly Twins" (Neena & Veena) are excellent instructors. They make exercising so much fun and exciting. I've lost 25 pounds and 5 inches off my waist in a few months! I look and feel so much better not to mention how toned my body looks. I was so impressed with this DVD that I purchased all of their exercise tapes and their book. Great investment!!! this product is great for beginners and proved very valuable when it came to tightning of the stomach muscles and wittling down the waistline. The dancers made it easy for the viewer to catch on to the moves and there was plenty of time to move along with the dancers in routine. It was a great work out for your arms as well! I am military instructor and since purchasing this workout CD it is my main source of body shaping -and other female soldiers are interested in this CD to help with part of their physical training routine. Outstanding!!
