This book is for the novice and for a seasoned fish keeper wanting to revisit some forgotten information. For the novice, the section on cycling is easy reading, minus the technical gibberish. The book is written in such a manner that the reader can easily understand the subject matter. I even think that this book would even make a good gift for someone interested in fish keeping but also for someone who may not be a consistent reader of books.

I owned this book before and decided to re-purchase it after a house fire last Dec. It is a very good, basic book for beginners as well as basic info for the avid aquarium owner. It goes into PH, nitrates, etc about your water which is very important for healthy fish. It is an easy to read and follow for anyone and explains quite a lot about the basics of an aquarium. I have owned an aquarium for about 26 years and this is a good reference book.
Has some good information in it. Good price and has good detail.

This book really was made for dummies. All the pertinent information was right at your fingertips and broken down into very easy jargon. My only regret was there was not more information on different species of available fresh water fish. Altogether, this was an excellent book and was very helpful for a newbie like me.
Great book for beginners
