As a big music fan growing up in the 1970's Chicago was one of my favorite bands ! Glad to see that they were finally inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of fame !! As a true fan of audiophile music I promptly bought a copy of this new collection on Blu-Ray audio and it was more than I could have hoped for ! The sound quality is outstanding in surround sound with the Blu-Ray mastering !! Hearing all of this great music again was such a pleasure as the surround sound mixes were different than the old stereo mixes we have been used to hearing over the years. Very highly recommended !!!

Hard-to-find collection that kicked off Rhino's Quadio series. Features all nine Chicago albums that were released in 4-channel, quadraphonic, format. These are Blu Ray Audio format discs in faithfully-reproduced miniature versions of the original album packages that contain high-resolution digital copies of the original masters and play on modern 5.1 surround systems. If you were into quadraphonic sound in the 1970s, this is your chance to hear these albums as they were intended, in glorious full-frequency high fidelity and discrete, four-channel splendor! The original vinyl releases suffered from flawed attempts to cram four channels of audio into a single record groove. Now, thanks to modern digital technology, these works of audio artistry can be experienced as they were intended. These copies are rare now and tend to demand a high price but the experience is worth it if you can find the right deal.Read full review

When I was a teenager I bought Chicago VIII on vinyl, and the cover has QUADRAPHONIC scrolled along the top of the album cover. I knew what thst meant, but didn't realize at the time that I needed a turntable, amplifier, and speakers capable of playing the record in that format. Over the years, I've always wondered what it would sound like. I didn't realize until I saw this package that almost all of their early albums had quad mixes. I now have a system capable of exploiting the advantages of multi-channel, so I jumped on this opportunity, even though I already have most of these on standard stereo CDs. Hearing them in this format is like hearing them for the first time.

What can I say? If you are into multichannel mixes (this one is 4.0) & you like sitting in the middle of the performance this 9 disc blurry audio se is for you. There is also a 2.0 stereo mix on each disc. This set coversChicago at its best.. a powerful horn driven band with 3 outstanding lead vocalists. Robert, Pete & Terry...Terry Kath appears on all of these albums, Chicago X being his last before his accidental death. other than this set I highly recommend Chicago II (the Steve Wilson stereo remix). This cd's sound is much better than the Chicago Box set I bought quite a while ago.

All exactly the same as the original albums, only smaller (cd size vs. LP size) complete with posters, stickers etc. sound quality is wonderful. I had to wait 40 years to hear these quadraphonic recordings sound like the masters.
