We were already somewhat familiar with the Bob Anderson stretching programs that were included in Bill Pearl's Getting Stronger: Weight Training for Sports. Additionally, we have undergone both Physical Therapy sessions and Yoga and Tai Chi classes. We have been stretching for over 30 years. The principle advantage of the Bob Anderson material is that, once you have the individual stretches under your belt, you may mix and match them according to your individual requirements. The Bob Anderson material coaches you on the correct way to build you own individual stretch program one step at a time - gently - and most importantly, avoiding potential injuries, by proceeding along at your own pace. We therefore wholeheartedly recommend this type of stretching program as being more user-friendly and senior-friendly, than the aforementioned Physical Therapy, Yoga and Tai Chi systems of stretching.Read full review

I own the first edition and have given over a dozen to persons as I find it extremely helpful in avoiding issues especially back problems. I never understood the fundamentals of stretching until I read this book and go back to it frequently. I am now 75 years old and find it even more important that when I was in my 50s. The book I purchased was a gift and it was a great value. A true treasure.

I had this book many many years ago and loved it. With my many moves, I got rid of it. With COVID here, I have not been able to go to the gym, so having this book back in my life is wonderful.

I purchased Stretching, so I could educate my massage clients about the benefits of stretching. I can send them home with pictures they can refer to while practicing at home. This book was recommended by my massage instructor and an older edition was on the shelf in our massage library. The book has easy to understand directions and pictures that show how to do the stretches and which muscles are being worked. It is great for handouts.
