I prefer the chocolate flavor and have used both the old and new formula Optifast. The new seems to be thicker while using the same amount of water. Seek an official Optifast program doctor or weight management facility before starting Optifast. They will check thoroughly check your vitals and metabolism before letting you start the program. In my case, I had a job transfer and couldn't find a provider in my new area. So being able to purchase Optifast online allowed me to continue with my program. If you stick closely to the plan, and not cheat by eating "a little something", you can lose about 30 pounds in your first month. That rate of loss will slow going forward. Mixing and drinking five packets a day is 800 calories...but, according to my doctor, staying below 1200 calories a day (if you decide to indulge in a salad, baked chicken, or soup, etc.) should allow you to lose weight, but at a slower rate than strictly sticking to the Optifast plan.Read full review

I understand it is a new formula that has artificial sweetener which doesn’t taste as good as the previous formula. I’m disappointed because liking the taste of the former was important to staying with the diet program. If there are still older formulas available I would like to know.

I no longer purchase my Optifast products from my physician because it is a much better value to order them here. I buy them by the case and always have plenty on hand.
