I have had Psoriasis since I was five years old. The doctor told my Mother then that the only topical medication that will ever help MUST contain Coal Tar. I remember being put on a green lotion in a dark bottle co training coal tar. Not since THEN has anything helped me before I found this product. Beware however, some companies have lowered the amount of coal tar in their product to cut costs. You need THIS product with no lower than 2% coal tar. It works quickly and helps to keep the plaque and itch far away. Give it a try, if you are like me and tired of looking for something that works, you have found it in this ointment. I apply once a day at night before bed.

Not as effective as Elta Tar, but it appears that Elta Tar is no longer being made. Elta Tar can be obtained on EBay & Amazon, but only at an exorbitant rate. MG217 is almost as good, but certainly can be purchased at a reasonable price.

I have tried many topical products for my plaque psoriasis and found that this one is probably the top one. Could be the level of concentration of the tar ingredient or residual property of it, but MG217 works well for me. You can see results within 2 or 3 days so it won't take long to determine if it works for you. Cons are that this product is super greasy when it goes on. I recommend you put it on after your shower, rub it in and let it settle until you no longer feel the oily feel, or wear a t-shirt or something to protect your clothes and/or bed linens. But it works for sure.

I use it on my face and my elbow/forearm area where my Psoriasis is the most visible. I have Gutate Psoriasis which a small percent of the population with Psoriasis has this type. You dont need that much because it is very oily and a little goes along way. I would not suggest using this product on very large sections of the body because it is a small jar. In two years, I just started my second jar. The only drawback is that the smell is not that great, but willing to put up with the smell to ease the itch.

It's not a panacea but sure does help a lot, also it is inexpensive. It would probably work even better if I could remember to apply it a often as they recommend. It is messy so covering it with something helps to keep it in contact with the affected area and not greasing up things you don't want it on.
