I was having a problem starting my lawnmower without using starting fluid. I replaced the existing carb with this new one but the mower still needed starting fluid. I then purchased a second gasket for between the carb and the push button primer housing -- that is, I used two gaskets together! Now the engine starts as it used to. Whether the new carb was required or just the two gaskets I will never know, but the new carb works well and was an economical fix attempt.

PRO: --- CARB: OK price, availability, and semi-compatible model. --- Air filter: quality is OK, for the price. --- Fuel shutoff: quality is OK, for the price. CON: --- CARB: Quality of item isn't the greatest. Cheaply made, lacks all the fuel and air passages; so engine doesn't run quite as it should. Throttle linkages needed to be modified to allow it to work on engine. Also, it is not rebuild-able; so it is a throw-away item if it gets clogged up in the future; thus making this particular item a POOR investment, long-term. --- Fuel filter is JUNK, with only a coarse screen inside.

I tried to rebuild/service my carb on 2012 Craftsman LT2000 48" cut rider with 21hp Briggs & Stratton engine. It was still hard to start. So I gave up and purchased a brand new carb. The new carb had been upgraded compared to orginal. Slight differences made me wonder if I purchased the right one. Original part numbers said this carb was compatible and replaced original stock carb. A bit skeptical but I installed anyway. Perfect fit. But would it start. It did immediately! No issues. Starts first turn of key every time. I recommend using premium gas with Sta-bil. More importantly, shut off fuel line and run until engine turns off. Doing this every time after use will ensure no fuel left in carb to gunk up lines and ports again. I recommend this carb. Perfect fit and worth every penny!Read full review

B&S 9.5 hp engine had not run for 10+ years. I put on a new head and head gasket along with this carburetor and it started on the second pull. No carb adjustments needed. Clips did not fit the included gas line. No problem using old lines. Air filter about 3/8 inch to tall. I used the foam on the old filter. I am extremely pleased.

After a little modification (drilling the main jet one size bigger) it works pretty good. It surged at first. Now after drilling it out, the surging stopped. But it runs a little rich. I probably should've swapped the OEM jet.
