Looking at pubmed dot com it seems that this goes imto the Brain and is supposed to be present, so this is that kind of antioxidant that's going to be good for the so called brain fog. I got this and not the lutien because the scientific details of synthetic and natural lutien, which also pass the blood brain or blood eye barrier need to come from the natiral form. I considered spinach extract for the lutien. And anyone interested in longevity or eye health or antioxidants should research lutien, zeoxanthin and astaxanthin as well as beta carrotine. And perhaps other compounds related to them. Its a relitivly new scientific area and the thing is this goes beyond hope into that area where one finds that proper supplementation is worth it to research and spend on because they work.! This product was chosen for the trustable swanson brand. I would say that anyone older than middle age would not regret long term supplemental zeoxanthin even though it seems like one of those odd little vitamins that few people take seriously. There's a lot of super science on a high level of knowledge that supports a good look at this class vitamins. Importantly, lutien and zeoxanthin are not synthesized by the body, that is why these types of brain eye and probably other organs or anti-inflammatory properties and so forth are healing and regenerative.
