Excellent product that cleans well. Before purchasing I researched the difference between sonic an ultrasonic and decided to give this a try since it vibrated so much more than sonic toothbrushes like Sonicare. I have one tooth that has a filling on it and even after a cleaning by my dental hygienist there was always a brown line where the filling met the tooth. After using the Smilex ultrasonic toothbrush a couple of times that brown line has disappeared so I know it it doing an amazing job on my teeth. I don’t see my dentist for a couple of months but when I do I will update this review; I am expecting a reduction in calculus / tartar and an improvement in my gums.

The battery life on this toothbrush is awesome. It really does last about a month between charges. That means you can take the brush with you on a trip and it won't run out of charge unless you're gone for over a month. It cleans really well and is very gentle. Getting the 240v version is almost impossible. I converted a 110v base to 240v and then managed to get a second 240v one from Russia. Amazon is selling 240v bases but if you have to buy one of those it's going to be a very expensive toothbrush. The brushes last a long time but they do eventually wear out. The replacement heads are expensive. Fortunately, the brush comes with a couple of spare heads: It's been a couple of years and I'm down to my last head so I guess I'll have to buy some replacements. They last a long time so you get your money's worth. After a lot of use, the casing has cracked slightly but the brush continues to work. Probably cracked when I dropped it? The battery is non-serviceable but it shows no signs of dying despite being used twice a day for the last ~3-4 years. When the battery does die I won't feel too bad about having to buy a new toothbrush. The Smilex is one of only 3 ultrasonic toothbrushes (that I can find) that operate in the MHz range. All other ultrasonic toothbrushes operate in the kHz range. The MHz range seems to work better. Nobody seems to have anything bad to say about Smilex. N.B. The early version of this toothbrush was not as durable. The heads were hard to remove and the brush is easy to damage: It stops working. Don't buy the early version if it pops up cheap. It's totally waterproof and I often take it into the shower with me. The toothpaste does tend to build up between the head and the stem making it hard to remove the head... but it doesn't seem to affect operation. This is a very durable unit. The cycle time is ~ 90 seconds and that seems to be sufficient to give your teeth a decent clean N.B. It's much more effective than any other electric toothbrush I've ever used. Yes, it is more expensive than most toothbrushes but it was worth every cent. I love this toothbrush and can't recommend it highly enough. :-)Read full review

Love everything about this toothbrush. My dentist has urged me to get a sonic toothbrush, but after reading the reviews, decided on this ultrasonic brush. I like the fact it came with several brush replacements as well as a gum massager. Well made. Nice features. Worth the wait!

Nice product with a very gentle cleaning action. Apparently requires a combination of manual brushing & traditional electric toothbrushing techniques. Still need to figure out how to use the ultrasound massage bit - just be aware that all the instructions are indeed in Japanese. Would buy again / recommend to others.
