If you like Mayberry, Andy and the cast, you'll love this book. What a great idea; recipes, and photos from the show; some with the actors facsimile autograph. Lots of nice recipes to try. Highly recommended & would make a fabulous gift for a cook or fan of the show!

I wanted to really like this cookbook but was very disalutioned. I do like the show but I'm not what you'd call a "fan". Given the time area of the show I thought the recipes would be more like home cooking from back in the day. Maybe a fun book to "read" but I didn't see much that I would make from this, prob will donate it once I'm done reading it. I wouldn't recommend this cookbook, but if you're a "fan" of the show you might like it.

Like the other reviewers are telling you....this book is a little treasure! Aunt Bea epitomizes Mayberry when it comes to good cooking and a lot of people went to a lot of work to make the recipes seem like they came out of her kitchen. From pot roast to fried chicken to her freshly baked desserts. They have also included other recipes that Aunt Bea had when she went to Mexico and when she owned her own Chinese restaurant, and the funniest are the variations of her "kerosene pickles" but I am sure the pickles in the book taste real good! You also have all the cast, crew and writers listed along with some pictures and dialogue from the show throughout the book. A real keeper.....just like Aunt Bea!
I don't know how I came to own this cookbook, but I have to say it is my favorite. No Rachel Ray stuff here...only recipes from ladies in the Andy Griffith show fan club, real ladies! Real food for real families...no fancy stuff. You won't need special spices or talents. I use this cook book all the time and over the years have even memorized some of the recipes. I'm on ebay now looking to get one for my best friend as she has been complaining of late that she has nothing good to cook for her family. There's pictures and anecdotes from the Andy Griffith show cast as well if you like that show. Even if you don't it is cute and a good cook book to boot.
It is a fun book both filled with many wonderful recipes & lots of info on all the stars of the show. The book is in excellent condition & I love that it has the spiral making it easy to keep the page you want opened.
