The vintage Murasaki was my favorite fragrance. The new one (reformulated) is just weaker, less mossy, less dense, much cooler, but is still a nice fragrance: a delicate, gentle floral green one. The first half hour after applying it, smells exactly the same as the vintage one. But then, it doesn't change much, stays linear. Anyway, since the vintage one is sold for a very very high price and since it is quite old, there is a good chance that is "turned", sour, I think it is wiser to buy the new Murasaki: it is cheaper and it is from "fresh" production, so no risk to receive a perfume that is "turned" (off)

It's very very expensive bc it's no longer on the market, but most people would not consider it a good value. This perfume is not long lasting, but it is bc it is not a strong one. It's very understated, which is one reason I love it. I have worn this perfume for decades, so everyone I know is accustomed to it on me; therefore, it no longer draws compliments.....but it used to. I do so wish Shiseido would start producing Murasaki again!!!! I am very grateful to have found it, but it was so so expensive.

My mom had the original Murasaki in the dark purple bottle that had a deeper, musk fragrance, but this is a softer floral version of that. I like it! Good for day or night.

This has been my favorite perfume since the '80s. So glad you can still get it.
