Written from an investigators perspective. The first section is a little tedious as you learn to evaluate evidence but it is well worth it. For those who believe but wish there was a logical explanation and proof of the existence of God and the truth of Christ and the resurrection. Here it is. For those who don't believe. Caution! This may effect your deeply held bias.

I love this book. I've always believed based upon my upbringing; Thomas the Apostle believed because he saw with his own eyes, but blessed are those who did not see but yet still believe. Mr. Wallace puts together such as logical case for Christ that now it is easy to believe, not based upon faith but based upon facts and logical conclusion based upon the evidence. This is a great book to read again and again so a Christian can easily defend their faith.

J Warner Wallace is a retired homicide detective with decades of experience working cold cases, i.e., unsolved cases in which the murder occurred long ago and with few or no living eyewitnesses. He creates a circumstantial case for Christianity by showing that: 1. The Gospels and other New Testament books were written relatively early and close to the alleged event of the Resurrection. 2. Many of the events recorded in the New Testament are corroborated by archaeology and secular first-century writers. 3. The claims made about Jesus didn't change over time and were accurately preserved. 4. The apostles had no motivate for lying, such as financial gain, sexual lust, etc. Wallace methodically examines alternative explanations for Christianity (such as a conspiracy, mass hallucination, an impostor fooled the apostles, Jesus didn't really die, etc.) and explains in detail why they're unreasonable. Wallace is thoroughly honest and admits every explanation for the rise of Christianity has strengths and weaknesses. He argues that a supernatural Resurrection is the simplest explanation but has one major drawback - it requires belief in the supernatural. We should not, however, presuppose that supernatural miracles are impossible prior to investigation, since this presupposition will bias our investigation of the evidence. Determining if a supernatural event even occurred is the very thing we are investigating, we cannot assume this is impossible prior to investigation. Read full review

I'm always looking for a book that will hold my interest. When I started reading it I thought it was too simplistic. I picked it up and put it down several times. But give it a chance - It really does have some wonderful unique insights that only a detective would notice. He really does live up to his reputation, and he turns over EVERY rock. Great book.

I know that the word of God is historically, archaeologically, scientifically, and prophetically accurate, and this book [along with Wallace's other books] are phenomenal tools for those who do not yet have that confidence in the Bible. I highly recommend his books for ALL Christians, as it is time for us to grow beyond 'feeling' the Bible is true, to KNOWING the Bible is FACT. For those who doubt the accuracy of the Bible...Wallace's books are for YOU! In Christ, dana
