I have read the book before and watched Dr. Fung's youtube videos. (Jason Fung, the author, is a physician who began as a diabetes specialist.) The book is convincing, well-researched, and easy for a layperson to read and understand. I have tried intermittent fasting, and it works--not only for weight loss but for medical conditions. We all know that every religion endorses fasting as a spiritual exercise, but there are physical reasons to do without food for short periods as well. The book is helpful and I wanted to keep it handy as a continuing guide. I recommend it highly. Check it out of the library first and see if IF (intermittent fasting) is for you.

Can’t say enough about Jason Fung and his books. They are scientific, well documented, and so informative! We have been duped for years by the government guidelines for “healthy” eating, not to mention the American Heart Association’s bogus information. Medical doctors are grossly uninformed about nutrition, and drug companies in large part, drive our health care. It’s no wonder we have an obesity crisis, not to mention diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and a myriad of other illnesses. Fasting worked a miracle for me with weight loss. After struggling all my life, this was the answer. This book can literally change your life!

Having read the Obesity code before this book, I found the Obesity code more compelling and informative. This is a great intro to fasting, but is more "mainstream" in its presentation. I preferred the frankness and one on one feeling the Obesity Code had versus this book. That being said, if its your first read on the topic of fasting, this is very easy to read and understand.
