A superior and simple to use system. I had one before and loved it. Only issue was one day after a long time of no use-I founf the clear plastic lens nearly completely opaque white and unable to look through it!!! No reason for it other than some bizarre chemitry in the plexi. I did buy another just now as its still a top design and fav unit to use for fun. It was reasonably priced and child's play to use. I even had it to 550mph (yes in a jet) and it was a ball to see this little unit keep up. No it was not my navigation for the flight if you actually had to ask lol. I would have actually thought it as a 5 star unit for its price back then but the plexi issue and only 8mb of memory are dampers.
This older GPS will be very familiar to current GPS owners. The layout of the keys, screens were familiar and this allowed me to use it right away. I had to get the driver (on the Streets and Destinations CD) and updated the maps. After a couple of attempts got the GPS to accept GSAK waypoints (Baud speeds not set the same). The older units have a little yellowing of the screens, but it is faint. The cable for this GPS is compatible with the current Spor Trak, 315, etc. models. Thanks goodness, because you can't buy the old one anywhere. If you like playing with older GPS units then this is a great unit. I think a price under $50 is fair. Peoria Bill : )
The Map 330 was my 1st GPS unit, and I loved the simplicity and layout of the buttons. Crazy accurate even out in the pine barrens of NJ, shows dirt roads, streams, old rail lines, what a blast. I was so devasted when it finally died (6 years not bad - had a hard life) I had to have another. I just won one on ebay and cant wait for it to arrive. I looked at other newer, faster ones, but for the $ I just wanted another Map 330. Its hard to understand why Magellan didnt evolve it - the Expolrist units have such micro-sized buttons I needed to use a pen to push them. I was able to use my 330 while moving having it mounted on my dirtbike's handlebars - with gloves on! I may still get a newer one for more serious work (color screens and SD memory chips are calling to me) but I'd always feel comfy having the old 330 as a backup, and as long as I can find cheap ones on ebay, I'll probaly always have one stuffed away.Read full review

I like the Map 330 GPS for hiking and also locating Real Estate lots. It is easy to use and just follow the directions. Please let it get satellite data to find your correct position for at least 5 minutes before you begin marking your starting point. Larry A.
