Under no circumstances is this unit to be confused with a hearing aid. It is an amplifier of sound and will not compensate for a lost part of the hearing spectrum. That said, it is well made. Axon units have options where the microphone is located...this unit has one in its earphone cord. Others have the microphone on the unit which makes it important where it is pointed. This can aid in hearing a TV when you have a mild loss of hearing. Since the units operate on a AAA battery they are inexpensive to use. Also great for birders listening for a call in a wooded area but susceptible to wind noise and noise rubbing against clothing etc. Use with caution.

I just stared using it !! The sound quality is clear !! Has more power than button cell style ones !! Because the use of a triple A battery !! I am using the rechargeable Eneloop AAA with 750mAh so I should get 187 hours use out of one battery charge !! So I well see if that really happens or not !! I believe in using recharable batteries is great match with this Pocket Hearing Amplifier !! Seems to have great quality !!! I will posting an udate in the future !!

I bought this for my disabled father, but tested it myself. I love that it takes a standard AAA battery. The "in ear" models take aggravating button cells. The controls on the unit are similarly dramatically easier to use than an in-ear unit.

The amplification works great. I only need to set the volume control to 1.5 to equal the hearing in my good ear. I went for this style because I can't wear a "behind the ear" aid and the "in the ear" are too expensive. I would have given it five stars except for the microphone placement. It's on the cord and I haven't yet found a good place to affix it that it doesn't pick up clothes rustling as I move. Since I mostly use it while watching TV it's not a big problem, but if I wanted an amplifier to wear all the time, I'd probably look for one with the microphone attached to the box.

This is a great little hearing amplifier, keep fresh batteries init and no problems. Nice metal clip on it so that it stays where you place it, convenient controls for comfortable listening. Very happy with this unit.
