I got the Facebook Portal 2nd generation and I don’t like it nearly as well as the first generation. I don’t like where the camera is, off to the side, and there is no power off feature. I just didn’t like it. I found the first generation was much easier to use. Was disappointed in the new design. I always say, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

I bought this for my mother who is tech challenged and lives in an assisted living apartment. I created a "Hey Portal, ____" command sheet for her to use. I bought a battery backup to plug it into so if the power ever faltered, the Portal will stay on. I loaded her FB account with family pictures so those stream across the screen when not being used for video calls. My only negative is that after every call, Portal asks you to rate the call quality. There is no way to turn off this feature. My mom would mess up the device by tapping away and getting confused. I told her to ignore it and it would go away after about 30 seconds. Otherwise, a great device.

When I look online for one of these portals they had it on sale for $100. When I went to buy it, the price had double. What I didn't realize it was a one-day sale you know. I found this one because it was $50 less then all the other ones, and I was still able to get it lower because it was buy it at this price or make an offer. They accepted my offer instantly, and I couldn't have been more happier. They meant what base a, and they shipped it out within 5 minutes of accepting my offer. This is how people should do business.
