I cared for this book because it allows interaction and encouragement for the child to include their thoughts about what was their important moment and allowing you too, to write your thoughts as well. As parents we know only too quickly how time has a way of moving forward through out lives and leaving us wishing we had captured "those" precious moments in our childs life. Not only does this book encourage the child it also encourages the parent to continue on the journey of "life" with the child through words. It's amazing as parents how much we forget those small "trivial" events, only to be told later, that it meant the world to them! This book is well written and the author asks questions that will truly "hold the test of time". As you read back on all the entries it will excite you to see your child as they were then and how they have developed into who they are now. I bought this book for one of my son's for his birthday. It was written the year my son was born. I thought it fitting to give him back his past, and all that I have collected through-out his years. He is a young man now, and I see how influential books has modeled his life. He himself is a history buff and writes as well. I feel his early training in reading and writing has benefitted him greatly. I would encourage any parent to begin journaling your childs lifes journey for both fun and the benefits and rewards it holds. Then you will look back on your childs history and see their amazing progress. Yes, there will be times of challenges and maybe great disappoints and not too many happy memories for one particular year. However, it will enable you the parent and your child see the character that "those" times produced. It's a great little book you won't be disappointed.Read full review
This book has page after page that the child can fill out about themselves, from simple data like age, height, etc. to silly things like how many forks are in their house. They answer questions about their likes and dislikes, noises they can make, and places they have been. It is creative, imaginative and delightful. My son filled his out when he was six years old. I recently purchased the same book for my six-year-old grandson. His birthday happened to fall on Father's Day this year and I gave Daddy his filled-out book back and gave my grandson a brand new one. I cannot wait to see the answers he will put in it.
This is a wonderful book I have bought for my 6 year old son and he absolutely loves it! I bought two of these (one for my 6 year old and one for my 4 year old) and I must say it's well worth the price. The pages have drawing activities and fill in the blanks for children to write their own names, birthdate, favorite pets, favorite songs, favorite books, counting how many windows are in the house, how many buttons and zippers they own, etc., and towards the end, gets to write their own story about anything. It's basically a great fun activity book for children who at the same time also get a sense of their surroundings and their inner self. My son reads it over and over and gets excited every time! My son loves reading, writing, math, and drawing; what a perfect combination made just for young children! I loved everything about this book. There's nothing I dislike about this book. If your child loves to read and write, this is just a stepping stone for him/her to start with. Best of all, it's a great keepsake for years to come! I highly recommend it!Read full review
My husband and I recently adopted a 12 year old boy from Russia and this will become his 'baby' book of sorts as we began to record, document his height, weight, favorite things as he can be interactive with the book and learn more about his surrounds at home too. Each year we plan to have him retrace his hand, foot, etc as he/we update the book, etc. Perhaps one day he'll share it with his own family when he becomes an adult too. November is National Adoption Month. Applause to all parents this month but especially those who chose to adopt. Amen.
my kids are already enjoying this book, we've had it to days. they can draw in it. they ask me, "what's this?" then we can do a page or two before bed. also an idea would be to put a time line in there some where because we are doing one for each year. I have four kids so yes this helps a bunch. no need for baby books in school if you have this. I would have liked some more coloring areas but for the most part I am very happy with this book. I would say my kids are extremely happy with it. I would have liked to see a I can do section. you know for riding a bike, swing by myself or swim. this would be one of my only problems with it but hey I am very picky. I would recommend this book to friends and family alike. anyone with a kid can appreciate having them sit down and read or write willingly. this helps a lot. the art work is cute the girls love naming off what is on the page. the older ones add and I have seen it here or here. if you need a minute for cooking or just need them to calm down and relax, this is the book for you.Read full review
