Mary Tyler Moore made great strides in her efforts to be Dick Van Dyke's adoring wife in his 1960's self-titled show; but it wasn't until she launched this self-titled early 1970's series that she proved how on point she could be as a television actress. As a competitor to the other Saturday night shows (launched almost exclusively by Norman Lear), Mary Tyler Moore knew that being politically incorrect had already been exploited to the hilt by then. Instead, she made breaking down barriers politically correct by giving single, educated and maturing women a role model who was cast in a favorable spotlight. Add in the whacky crew she worked with and her borderline-insane neighbors, and what we have is the inimitable Mary Richards brought to life by her outstanding talent. Hats off!!

The DVDs freeze too much on a few of the programs. The ones that work are fun to watch.

I am elated that I can have this series as there is not many good, clean tv programs on now. I love them as much or more as when they were orginal telecast.
