I have a lot of class D amplifiers from 100 to 500 dollars. And this yamaha amp is just great. Sound is different. Warm but with a lot of detail. Very Clean bass and in general better sound stage, clarity than any pf my class D amps. Class D amps are great too, don’t get me wrong, but I think this yamaha is my sound. Full , warm and clear and clean. This is the 85w at 8ohms . I found that is a real clean power. Most of the class D claims have 100w at 8 ohms but in high volumes start to distort a little bit. But at normal and a little high volumes sounds great too. Yamaha have an entire line of amps in this category. 301 ha e i think 60w (enough for almost everybody) 501. 85W. Really more power than you need for a very big room. 701, 100W a lot of power, and 801, 100W same power than 701, but have full dac integrated. 501 have a simple dac, 701 , ha e simple dac and a dedicated output for yamaha cd playes. I have a very good DAC, and a dedicated CD Transport, so I really don’t need all that features, and with 85W it is more then enough for me. Very good sounding system with the right speakers of course. Read full review
