This is the first book I ever purchased from Cook's Illustrated. I bought it at the begining of their TV Television Show Year (2001) and used it as a textbook while I watched the show. I have never had so much fun! I could go buy the supplies before the show came on, then I made it while watching the show. Now, you can by the DVD's to go with the book. Even better since I did have trouble catching the show most of the time. Things I made and LOVED!! Chewy, Fudgy Triple-Chocolate Brownies. I have yet to not have someone just love them. I have made these Brownies dozens and dozens of time. People always ask for them. Bittersweet Chocolate Roulade - My husband really really loves this one. It takes some time to make, so, I don't get to make it as much as he would like. Plus, it is one of my more costly recipes to make, running about $20.00, but oh, it is so good!! Without a doubt, ALL the books put out by America's Test Kitchen are the very, very best to have in your kitchen!! They are SO well written, the recipes are SO enticing, and the information in each is invaluable. If I had to do away with all of my recipe books which I have accumulated over the past 50 years, the ones from America's Test Kitchen would still be on my shelves forever!! Saying all this, I cannot, CANNOT recommend ANY of their recipe books enough!! Save your money, don't buy just any old recipe book, and get ALL they have published.
I have baked for many years, but what is so different and what I love about this cookbook is that they do the tests and then tell you what is the best product to use. I have made french toast for years with only eggs milk sugar and vanilla. When I checked out the recipe for french toast I saw that they use a little flour in the recipe, I am looking forward to trying that. I guess your never to old to learn something new. The cookbook will be a blessing to all of you and you'll begin to understand a little more about how to make the best tasting recipes ever....good luck and good cooking....Darlene in Ohio

I watch America's Test Kitchen on PBS Create channel nearly every day. They have such wonderfully good dishes and the host and hostess make each step easy and fun. I purchased the book to start a collection of AMerica's Test Kitchen Cook books. My family is happy. Each meal I prepare now is exciting, tasty and best of all easy.
