Stone is dense and free of any chips or cracks. I got a very small stone, quickly made a little box to keep it and my fingers safe. Is a very fine grit, knife must be very sharp to start. Keeps my butcher blades redy to work...

Remember kids: read the specs carefully. I was disappointed when this tiny, inch and a half stone arrived. I was expecting something closer to 5 inches long and maybe an inch thick. Y'know, big enough to sharpen a knife with. I did use this little chip of a stone, because it is the right material, but it's impractically small for how I wanted to use it. I have to hold my knife and run the stone across it, rather than the other way around as I'd hoped. Full disclosure: I'm a rank amateur at knife sharpening.

This stone is a little smaller than what I thought it would be. Due to its small size sharpening anything bigger than a pocket knife blade would be difficult, but as far as the quality of the stone is concerned it is a quality tool and will do a great job of sharpening blades of the proper size for this stone!

Good wet stone to keep your kitchen knives razor sharp. Gives a mirror like finish. Use with oil or water. I recommend that you make a small wooden casing for this or use it on a towel when policing your blades.
