A definite hidden gem for the Genesis with a genre all it's own. Dismember your tough monster opponents limb by limb while keeping a close eye on your health and ammo. Buy new weapons to exploit your enemy combatants weakness. I grew up with game and still haven't beaten it to this day, so recently I picked up a copy. It's still really tough. The graphics are pretty good for an early release Genesis title and the game takes place in something of a mixture between D&D and Fallout with crunchy classic Genesis tunes. Death Duel is also fairly violent, where the main object is to dismember your opponent limb-by-limb in order to defeat them. Admittedly many of your opponents are dragons and robots, but that just makes this game that much more metal. Beware though, DD is tough. Like relentlessly tough. Some of the later opponents are ridiculously powerful, with these just brief flutters of vulnerability and it's like banging your face against a solid steel wall. But once you kill them it's rewarding and is always easier the next time.Read full review
