I've been thru several reels over the past many years and they keep on getting better and faster. Started with the Curado and then a period of Quantum PT (still have a couple) and the ever reliable Lew's speed spool (my main reel for 100% braid fishing. All good reels. But the last 3 I bought were the Tatula. I was showing my fishing partner last week that you almost can't get a backlash once you set it up! I've got them paired with both Dobyn's and a couple others with Kistler rods and they are small and lightweight enough to fit perfectly. It handles fish over 5 lbs confidently and the 8:1 comes in really handy at getting a few extra casts each hour. It is a little pricy at $160 but I think well worth it.

I have really enjoyed my Tatula 8.1:1. It has great free-spool, excellent cast control, and plenty of smoooooth drag - measured over 13#! Very smooth retrieve and palms well. Line capacity is modest but more than adequate for bass using 30 to 50# braid with 6 to 12# drag.

I just bought the Daiwa SV TW 103 XS and it is one smooth reel. I have only used it once with a 3 " tube with an1/8 oz weight and it casted like a dream. I tried to throw it as hard as I could and it never backlashed at all, amazing.
