This lens is not only a great image making machine it is also an engineering work of art. I think the term would be elegant. The only real problem this lens has is the equipment we have to shoot with today. This lens is hard to use to it's potential and it does have a few small limitations but no more than the very best of anything, that is to say nothing in the right hands. This lens is tricky to use wide open even when you have a big ol split screen Spotmatic viewfinder, but with the state of viewfinders today that are not made that well for manual focus large aperture lenses it practically takes Jedi focus to get true focus especially wide open. The standard Super Takumar seven element lens when shot wide open will give very sharp focus but the depth of field is so narrow that I always try to bracket my focus with micro adjustments usually three or four shots, now you might say why would you put yourself through all that.....BECAUSE THE IMAGE I GET IS EXACTLY WHAT i WANT YOU TO SEE, EXACTLY NO MORE OR NO LESS. And that is what this lens is made for, for the photographer to isolate a point in the shot that is most interesting and let the rest fall away in a creamy abstract haze.Read full review

very bright objetive, 1.4 aperture with manual focus make to take the picture a hard work. but if you have enough time, is the best choice with this prize. (canon 6D).
