As a child this was a movie I loved...the Breakdance craze hit in the UK in the early to mid 80s - owed in part to the music and fashion scene and also to the film industry! Watching Breakin now is like taking a step back in time...I watch this movie with different eyes...20 years older, its easy to cringe at the rather questionable acting, and cheesy plot line - but at the same time enjoy these scenes I loved so much as a child! Starring Lucinda Dickey, Adolfo Quinones and Michael Chambers - the one thing this short (under 90 minutes) movie does not skimp on is talented dance scenes and a funky list of music tracks!! From the street scenes to the dance-off - the music and dance are perfectly in sync; showing off superb chorography skills and sheer talent!! Its a good vs bad, money vs poverty type movie where the nice guys of course win; and good and bad come together to untie for one cause - to save the local community center whose future will help nurture future dance talent and keep local kids off the street! Ice T makes his film debut in this movie and you cannot miss a rather funny cameo but then unknown Jean Claude Van Dam who look rather...em...fetching in a one piece leotard!!
