Based on a true story of a principal from New York, this is a drama of reality. When the world gives ups on a run down inner city school, one man stands alone and fights the system. Granted, all his ways might not be "ethical", but the ending shows the affect of his ways. The city's goal is to shut down the school, based on "standardized testing" scores . But their principal teaches the students to believe in themselves, discover there is such a thing as hope, and to never give up. This movie will have you shedding tears of sadness, then of joy. A movie that is sure to be a classic to be watched for years to come, because it teaches the value of working together, and what the human race can accomplish, when pushed into a corner with someone they can "Lean On".

This is a great movies with great actors and actress. You want to share something with teens that think they know. This shows that children from all background can make a change. In life you will have some adults that care and others that dont. But you make out your life what you want. Yes our kids need good direction in school, but it starts at home. They need the love of the parent from home first. Color should have meaning when it comes to working together to make something better. When it is all said and done, God see us all the same.
I bought this movie mostly because it's about the high school my dad attended in the 1940s. My dad designed the school's mascot which I hoped to see in the film. It was there, in a modern spray-can painted version. I enjoy Morgan Freeman's acting. The tension between him as Principal (doing what he thought was right) and the parents, school board and Mayor (not wanting to rock the boat) had me on edge. I was sad to hear profanity spoken by the responsible adults in the film, when they were supposed to be setting a good example for the students. Other than that, I really liked the film.
Love the movie I thought I was ordering a DVD when I got it I found out it was VHS
