Personally, I think this is the second best John Hughes film after The Breakfast Club. It's basically a remake of Pretty In Pink with the gender roles reversed. The acting is top notch (especially the three leads) and the story is well executed. What could be a very generic teen romance is elevated with depth and message about staying true to your own personal integrity. Lastly, the movie contains a "real" father - both with positives and negatives. With so many parental figures in teen movies being cookie cutter buffoons, here's one who truly loves his son and wants what's best for him even if he isn't listening all of the time.

I've seen this movie before and decided to buy it. I like it because I like movies that are true to life and realistic. This is a clean movie about teen relationships with only mild profanity and by today's standards (2006) no nudity. The movie plot is good and the characters seem real and not exaggerated. Although the movie was targeted for teens, I think those older can enjoy this movie as well. Having conservative values I would not be embarrassed to show this movie to other families with younger children. I rate this movie 4.75 out of 5!
