This is a movie in which Ringwald stretches to break out of her "princess" role. Yes, she managed to break free of it in Pretty in Pink, too, but not to this degree. In this film, she plays a complex girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She turns to yuppie, McCarthy, to "rescue" her. In the process, she turns his world upside down. Both of the characters learn a great deal about themselves and life as a result of their sordid love affair. This is a great movie that has a happy ending... although not the one you might expect.

I thought this was an exceptionally good movie for kids to watch. Loaded with beautiful scenery and warmth. I always enjoy movies that feature horses.
