It's a great practical overview of how to set up and use GNS3 to simulate most common network environments. It is predictably Cisco-heavy. If you have a lot of Juniper-specific stuff in your environment you want to simulate, get ready to walk the "it's JUNOS that fell from the sky and no one owns it" aspect of Olive, and the chapter there is mostly just getting vMX to work inside an emulated environment. That aside, if you are looking at actually setting up and getting started with GNS3, this is the way to go. Be prepared that some of the best practices involve tools that aren't opensource (e.g. VMware) though there are open solutions proposed as alternatives throughout, they just won't give you very high performance. An excellent place to start in learning the really helpful ways GNS3 can help you learn about and simulate your network.Read full review
