"Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" is the sequel to "Mortal Kombat" and is about as disappointing as most sequels. For one, Raiden is no longer played by Christopher Lambert, which is a big loss. As well, the movie seemingly tries to incorporate every MK character that the first one omitted, with mixed results. It adds Jax, Jade, Smoke, Shao Kahn, Sindel, Sheeva, Motaro, Nightwolf, and a litany of others, but lost in the mix are mainstays Liu Kang, Kitana, and Sonya (also played by a different actress). The movie also has a fairly convoluted and disappointing climactic fight scene, especially between Liu Kang and Shao Kahn, but I won't spoil it for you if you want to see it yourself. The fight scenes are still pretty good, but they still can't match the original in excitement. The DVD special features are pretty bare bones, so don't worry too much about that. Overall, "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" is not a bad movie, just not great when compared to the original.Read full review
A good popcorn flick, a throwback to the Mortal Kombat fans from a couple of decades ago. Do you remember going to the video store and reserving your own copy of the video game prior to it's coming out? The game was fantastic. Just wish I could say more about this movie. The movie itself was great then as I was still in fan mode. But in retrospect, it's actually pretty crappy. The original cast from Mortal Kombat did not return except for Robin Shou. And as good as Robin is, the movie isn't the same without Christoper Lambert's witty one-liners. The CGI effects seem to have been downgraded for Annihilation. Not as crisp as the first movie. Now, rumor has it that a third one may be in the works... can they improve with modern cinematography? Let's hope so.
I enjoyed the 1st Mortal Kombat movie in theatres when it came out in 1995. I never got a chance to see the follow up. I enjoyed this movie for what it is. This movie is a fun action filled movie. It could have used more Johnny Cage and others but it kept me glued to my tv. It was worth seeing and pairs nicely with the original Mortal Kombat movie.

Even a die hard Mortal Kombat fan as myself cringed when I sat through this movie. Now I give the first one a 5/5 just so you can use that as a gage. Half the orignal characters had different actors which just kills the flow. The acting is terrible. Sure the fight scenes were good, but the first was much better. Stick to the original and to the TV show and wait for the new Mortal Kombat Movie. In case you haven't heard, Mortal Kombat 3 is coming soon and is actually replacing Mortal Kombat 2. Even they know it was bad and are trying to erase it and remake it with the orignal cast.
we enjoyed the sequel it was a good movie
