The movie itself is by far is probably the best your gonna get for a MK video game adaptation. The dvd could use some work. The 5.1 dolby digital track was great, but the video needed an anamorphic treatment and a restoration process. But, the movie was only 4.98, so, not much to expect. I think there is a re-release with an anamorphic picture floating around, but good luck trying to find anything about it on the internet.
Picture quality is very good; English subtitling is very good; It's fullscreen. This first Mortal Kombat movie is the best of all the other ones. Christopher Lambert in the role of Lord Rayden fits the character so well - far better than any other actor in the role.

well, back in the day when it 1st came out, it was really popular. and of course i was a big fan, so i bought it 4 vhs. so lol many years latr i havent seen it. so just a few days ago i desided i wanted it in my collection again. so here i am buying the movie. as far as the movie goes, its pretty descent. you can just 4get bout the others after, they were just terrible lol. just mortal kombat 1 was the best.
For its time this is one of the more inspiring martial arts movies. It has humor and good fight scenes. Only one or two of the main characters aren't real fighters. Oh well, the rest are.
