The Samsung SGH-t629 (T-Mobile) is a very decent phone to have around with you. And if you're a fan of slider phones, considering looking at this! It supports MP3, BlueTooth, 1.3MP Camera, MyFaves, MicroSD card support (up to 2GB) and all kinds of other features (like speed-dial, 3-way calling, and speakerphone)! And that's just a small list! What I do with mine is I look through my music on my computer, trim it down to 30 seconds, and upload to my phone via bluetooth! I do the same with pictures - crop and upload! Doing these 2 actions help personalize my phone. Bluetooth connectivity is pretty good, and speeds are acceptable. T-Zones has a pretty good library of content, and downloads pretty quick. The clarity is astounding - and it even sounds good on speakerphone! Battery life is decent (4-6 days). (1GB-2GB) MicroSD memory card recommended for archiving ringtones, wallpapers, and more! Simply put, it's a phone that can help get things done, the way you want it to. Known issue with the phone: When switching between Airplane mode (disables all wireless features) and Bluetooth, you may experience a small hang or lock-up.Read full review
Love the sleek design and easy with which the keypad is accessed by smoothly sliding it up even with only one hand. pros: sleek design Micro SD slot for expandable memory Ease of accessing navigational keys Some good camera quality but less better than earlier version samsung T809 Music player and video recording Some good camera and video editing features cons: Poor and absurd in-built ringing tone. low ringing volume. No vibrate and ring feature. Music player volume is offensive, very low to listen to Screen is easly dented. Does not have profiles that can support stereo bluetooth headset like A2DP and AVRCP profiles. But overall is a good phone to have but is not a top multi-tasking phone. Is a mid-range top phone.Would recommend samsung to upgrade those lacking features to a bit higher version like 3G module, will definitely be a sale out.Read full review
I bought this phone as a replacement for the same model I lost. If you need a rugged, cheap and easy-to-use phone, go for this one. It has most regular features, including blue tooth, camera, video, browser, and polyphonic ring tones. The screen is clear and the menu easy to navigate.Texting is easy and the speaker is loud enough so one does not have to strain his ears. The phone is not bulky and can be easy pocketed. Although the camera does not have a flash and may not produce the best of pictures, it captures images clear enough for most purposes. The video time is only for a few seconds so one has to shoot multiple short videos. Overall, this is a nice phone for the average person who wants something presentable, functional and yet affordable.
I have always used Motorola or Nokia. This is my first Samsung and first slider phone. I have had it for a full week now and have been playing with it enough to write a review (in my opinion). Pro's * Loud speakerphone * Loud earpiece * Bright display * Ease of use * Alarm - can repeat for everyday, everyday except weekends, or once (I love this feature) * Expandable memory * Camera is pretty decent for what it is * Sleek design Con's * No option for vibe & ring * Fragile - I bought a plastic cover and an LCD protective sticker, so this took care of that problem * Organizer - not very user friendly. It took me a while to figure out how to set a reminder for something on a certain day. Of course the con's are only my personal feelings, so someone else might not find them that annoying. It's not the greatest phone out there, but it works for me. It's also not the kind of phone for people always dropping their phones. It scratches quite easily. Overall, this phone is good. I would recommend it to people who spend a lot of time worrying about the way their phone looks, but don't want to leave out certain features. I bought this phone because I have always wanted a slider. I saw friends playing with them and thought it was cool. My Motorola V195 had been scratched up, and I worry about cosmetics of phones, so I wanted a new one.Read full review
Pros: -thin design for a slider -solid phone that doesn't break when dropped -respectable battery life -a decent camera for a 1.3mp Cons: -the ear piece is not that loud (i think a lot of samsungs are like this) -can't rearrage hot keys -easy smudging on the screen (like any other large screen slider) -can't use imported music to set as a text message tone -not exactly text friendly I like a phone that is sturdy like this one and won't screw up after just a few drops. I highly recommended putting that protective plastic on the screen to prevent scratches and scuffs. This isn't for people who use internet, but i'm not big on using internet on a cell phone. I didn't like where the mic was placed, i had a habit of covering it up with my thumb when i held it in my right hand. The lower lip of the phone made it hard to touch those bottom keys during a text and the keys were flat so i couldn't figure out at first what i was hitting when i text without looking at it. I know it seems like i'm bashing this phone but I really didn't mind this stuff. I just got used to it quickly and just want to let you know what i ran across. It is cheaper because it's a slightly older model and discontinued, and has a few flaws that later models address. I have Tmobile and they put a lock down on the blue tooth feature where you can't share media like ringtones and wallpaper with there new phones. You can still do this with the T629. Great camera for 1.3 but slow to take a photo(I had ones with 2mp and had the worst photos). Also a very small and slim profile that doesn't look bulky when i put it in my front pockets. Overall a well rounded phone for your basic needs with today's phone standards and a different look than the typical motorola rzr that everyone still has after being released years ago(i've taken a liking to sliders and moved away from flip phones).Read full review
