The Avail is a great phone with only two major issues that I personally have with it. Well 3. I bought it as an entry level smartphone and I needed a prepaid smartphone. It's excellent for the price. It's very very easy to use, especially if you never used a smartphone before. Easy to navigate, personalize, and such... My cons... Battery life is HORRIBLE. sometimes I charge it twice a day and I've only had it a few weeks... I don't surf the net, text, or talk nearly as much as the average person so I suggest buying the biggest battery you can for it after purchase. I bought one off eBay a few days after and it's on it's way from China. Hopefully that will fix the battery down side. I HATE, and I say HATE because I truly do... hate the way they LOADED the phone with bloatware and not only can't you MOVE it to your SD card you can even delete the pre installed apps. this is a MAJOR down side if you ask me because it leads to issue number 3... VERY low phone internal memory... VERY low. It's absolutely frustrating how low it is. It would help if you could MOVE the bloatware to your SD card at least... But of course not! Also be prepared with a memory card if you don't have one because you can't do anything on the phone without it... Take pictures, video, or download any new apps without one... I did give the phone 4 stars however because I love it really. Despite the poor battery and bloatware clogging up space it really does do it's gig. The screen is larger than my Wife's Samsung Galaxy II Appeal (well wider, as opposed to longer) and I like that. Touch screen is very responsive. Speaker phone is the BEST of ANY cell phone I've ever owned. Calls sound good volume wise...Read full review
I bought this phone because I was surprised to find all the features I wanted, including GPS for $80. If you're buying it to use on Straight Talk, see the 2 previous posts about the problem with the AT&T APNs being retained. It is quite annoying, but there is a solution for that problem. Install an APP called 'APN Backup & Restore' and you can delete all your APNs. Then you'll have to re enter your Straight Talk APN. It solved that annoying problem for me. It was almost making the phone unusable. That's the reason it got only 4 stars for ease of use. I've always had a problem with touch screens, but this one feels natural to me. The low score for battery life may be because a defective battery rather than the phone. The usage monitor shows battery life dropping slowly to about70%, then looking like it dropped off a cliff. I've ordered a new battery off eBay for $6.45 - hope that solves that. Overall a good value that I've recommended to others.Read full review
I early purchased a so called heavy duty flip phone for my husband. Needless to say he is hard on a phone. The so called heavy duty one lasted all of 30 days. Plus he is not up on teck. This Avail phone is the best and no complaining out of him... only fall back no flash to the camera but thats fine. It seams easy for him to learn and no more in cost the the deductible of a replacement if you had insurance. Small be he does not use the internet yet this will all come in time and a wonderful one to learn with.. love it and he does as well...
I am happy with the phone, although i didn't win it. I purchased it on January 15,2013. I don't know why my site says i won an Avail and I purchased it on the 23rd of this month, but i'll still review it. Like i said i am very happy with the phone. It was a replacement for the Fusion 2 that had a very short lifespan due to being dropped without a protective case/cover. The Avail is an Android phone so it will do just about anything you want it to, unless you want to start downloading then you run into a problem. In order to download any music, application, or even take a picture with the very great camera this phone has, you will need to purchase a memory card. I purchased a 32 megabyte Micro SD-HC memory card from eBay for $20.00 and that will be more than enough I'm sure. Do Not buy your memory card from an AT&T store or WalMart or any other store because you will pay upwards of $30.00 for the smallest memory card, being a 2 megabyte. With that being said the Avail will suit just about anybody.Read full review
This has a wonderful camera....I was so surprised that even without flash it took such clear, crisp pictures. It was very easy to use, the o.s. was basic and easy to manage. It didn't lag very much. The only thing I didn't love about this phone was the amount of internal memory...and if you use Android then you know that it is a serious limitation on the number of apps and such you can have on your phone.
