The LG 5300 is a good phone for the price. Battery life is about 3-4 days---The Razor before this phone only lasted a day, no matter if I used the phone or not! Overall this is a good phone with many Get It Now features--more than is listed on the Verizon site for this phone. No, it does not have VCAST. You are able to send ringtones attached to pic messages and save as ringtones. It does have a camera which I only use for the phone itself. I don't try to get pictures off the phone, just like it to take pictures of my grandchildren for the phone wallpaper. The ringer is loud. when you send pic messages with ringtones attached, they are also loud. I know this model phone has had a lot of freezing problems in the past where you had to remove the battery, but so far, this has not happened to me. I think the phone software has been updated by now. Hope this review helps.Read full review
THE GOOD: The LG VX5300 is a simple and lightweight flip phone that features a VGA camera with a flash, a speakerphone, analog roaming, and a Web browser. It also has an easy-to-use keypad and excellent call quality. THE BAD: The LG VX5300 has a rather boring design, and we aren't fans of the camera's picture quality. THE BOTTOM LINE: The LG VX5300 is a fitting entry-level camera phone for those who don't want a lot of frills but do want excellent call quality. The LG VX5300 is the latest in Verizon's offerings of entry-level camera phones. While it has an unassuming appearance, it delivers the goods in terms of a simple feature set and great call quality. The VX5300 also supports analog roaming, which increases the likelihood of getting cell phone reception in more rural areas. This LG flip phone retails for $119.99, but you can get it for $69.99 with a two-year contract. Design is clearly not the objective of the LG VX5300. Its silver and gray casing isn't unattractive, but it doesn't stand out as too appealing either. However, we did appreciate its compact and lightweight form factor (3.51 by 1.87 by 0.94 inches; 3.28 ounces), and found we could slip it in and out of our pockets with ease. Slightly oval and pebblelike in shape, the VX5300 felt comfortable in our hands as well as next to our ears. The VX5300 also has a stubby antenna on the top. Opening and closing the phone was a snap, requiring minimal effort. On the front flap is the 1-inch diagonal OLED external screen that displays 65,000 colors. It shows battery and signal strength, the date and time, and caller ID, and it functions as a self-portrait viewfinder when camera mode is on and the phone is closed. It doesn't display photo caller ID, however, which is disappointing. You can also swap out the wallpaper of the external screen. The camera lens and flash is located above the screen. The left spine is home to the volume rocker and a voice command key, while a dedicated camera key lies on the right spine. Flip open the phone, and you're presented with a 1.8-inch, 262,000 color TFT display. Bright and colorful, the screen is very easy on the eyes. You can adjust the backlight timer, the font size, and the clock format, but you can't change the brightness or contrast. As for the navigation controls, there are the standard two soft keys, and a five-way toggle that doubles as four user-customizable shortcuts with a middle confirmation key, the send key, the clear key, and the end/power key. Right underneath the navigation array is the dedicated speakerphone button as well as the dial pad. We were very pleased with the arrangement of the keys; they were well spaced, and while the buttons felt smooth, they were slightly rounded and raised above the surface, which made for easy dialing.Read full review
This model cell phone works for me again!...I had dropped my last one and discombobulated it to the point where it was working but in damaged-mode....lol....no probs....they're cheap enough and easy enough to re-key at the Verizon store....only one big major flaw in the design of this very model: it is in the "hinge-bump" on the right side (whilst looking at the unit in the front, right-side up)----this unit developes fractures at that point and that can lead to a hinge with the flip-mode in jeapordy...lol...sounds silly, but if you get one, you'll learn..I had mine with the strands hanging-out and damaged that control the screen that run through the hinge....just from dropping it on concrete real good from 5'-up from the floor---get a case for it!!! ....... Great thing is that the phone is fairly loaded with features.....simple features....you can put your own ringtone on it at least....simple phone. Hardly robust though. It operates well: gets great reception and is extremely easy to operate. If I got an iPhone, which are all the rage in 2009, I'd probably destroy it...this technology is so frail. I'll stick to the tried-and-true and simple LG VX5300!Read full review
Decent phone with basic functions. Speaker easy to turn on/off. Buttons a little soft need more tactial feel. Scroll dial too small for thumb causes entry errors. Side buttons cause more errors that they're worth. Display bright, clear but packed w/ too much info. Fonts small hard to read. Logic ok and intuitive. Sound quality 6 out of 10 - a bit muddy. External attenna needs to be more rounded for pocket comfort. Won't charge if plugged in before a complete shutdown so you wait a lot. Nice, small, and radiused makes it easy to carry. Needs larger radius on edge to ease one hand opening. Old phone but works!
The phone is newer than the one I had, and since my dog decided to "eat" my old phone, I needed to find a phone to replace it. I did a search and found a few newer models that I would be interested in, and started searching on Ebay. I found this phone, I read the review carefully. It ensured me that the phone would be in good working order and that I could return it for any reason. I decided to give it a shot, since I did not have insurance on my old phone. I purchased the phone. I received it in reasonable time, and had no problems activating it. The phone works great, buttons are easy to use, navigation is quick and easy to learn.
