I used and liked this model for about 7 or 8 years, until the hinges broke, then bought this new one. I like it because it is very compact so I can easily carry it in a front pocket, it is inexpensive, and the volume and clarity are good. I am not a heavy cellphone user, I probably only average a few calls a week most of the year. I needed to get my contacts off the old phone (it seems you need a downloadable app but Verizon access to downloadable utilities for this flip phone type has not worked since 2011). I had a lot of contacts I could not easily replace. So I brought the new phone and my old one to a local Verizon sales office to have the contacts transferred. They said they couldn't do that because my old screen was detached and not working. I asked if they would just transfer the electronic guts from the keyboard half of the old phone to the new one; they refused. So, I went home and did it myself. The phone works fine. But, be aware there is no easy way to back up your contacts.Read full review

the verizon lg vx8350 is accessible to the blind. you may need sighted help the first time because the voice command list may not speak. press the voice command key on the bottom left side of the phone. the voice command menu will pop up and ask you for a command. press the right soft key and use the down navigation key until you get to the prompts press the center button in the ring. this is the ok key the first in the list is mode. this list does not talk. but it does have a high and low beep when you wrap to the top of the menu. when you hear the low beep press the o k key. this will turn on promps and alerts. from now on you will have voice access to many bout not all of the menus. you can only go to the third or fourth sub menu with speech. you have speech access to the voice command list and all of the options from the command list 3 sub menus down. the contact list, the music player phone status for: battery, signal strength ,network you are on,missed calls, missed email, missed messages but it will not speak the messages. will speak the numbers on the key pad. you can go directly to many of the menus through the voice command go to menu to go to your photos, music and ring tones useing the voice command functions. you can change the ring tones your self without help to choose the ring tones you want to use. over all this is a good phone without haveing to use a $300 screen reader like talks or mobile speak. you could send text messages but incomeing text messages are not spoken. you can not surf the net because there is no speech support. i would buy other headphones. the ear buds included with the lg music kit do not stay in your ears. the music player is ok. but it is not ment to be a full featured mp3 player. the speakers are too small and you can only skip from track to track or pause and continue playing after you have started the player from the music menu. the play list does not speak. but there are only 4 options. play all,by author, title or random. this model has a internal antenna and does not pull in the signal as well as the vx8300 with its external antenna. i only get 3 bars in my home the vx8300 had 6 bars. this is strong enough most of the time. except in severe storms. the vx8350 has a concave key pad so you can feel where the numbers are and when settup will speak the numbers when you press them. this phone still has voice dial and voice call from the phone book. i used a program data pilot to create my contact list on my computer and transfer it to the phone. this is easier then useing the phone to add contacts to the list.Read full review
I like the compact size of this phone. It is a good basic phone. Photos can be hard to see on the small screen, but I didn't buy it for viewing photos. The photos it takes do look good on a larger screen. I have one problem, and it's with Verizon, not the phone itself. Verizon no longer supports Backup Assistant on this phone. I was able to transfer all the contacts from my old phone using a Bluetooth connection, but changes to the list will not be backed up at the VZW web site. The old ones will remain and if I purchase a newer phone I should be able to download them to it (but why would I if can transfer the list over Bluetooth again).
I've had four basic flip style cell phones over the last 9 years and this model is the most satisfactory. We only use them for voice calling and those times you want to have a simple camera available. Talk & listen quality is good. Picture quality is adequate. Battery life for moderate use is around four to five days. I picked this particular model for the camera, the removable micro SD memory card and relatively low prices for used phones. My one complaint is the weak hinge retention. The molded feature that holds the hinge broke off at one end making it difficult to hold the phone and talk. So I bought another used phone for $25 and will probably buy another for backup.
This is my second VX8350. The first one lasted me about 2 years, and still works great as a phone, but the hinge is worn out so I decided to replace it while I can. The phone is great for me because it is loud. I can hear the ringer, it has a great speakerphone, and the buttons are easy to use one handed. The MP3 player feature is nice, but I do wish the buttons on the front weren't so easy to push. If I have the phone in my front pocket, I sometimes start the music player and start hearing music. If you want a simple phone, with great battery life, give this one a shot.
