I love this phone! I switched over to the Triumph from a BlackBerry Curve and I love it. It did take a while to adjust to the touch screen, but the interface is very user friendly and easy to navigate. The screen resolution is great and the customization options for this phone are endless. I love the fact that I feel I've got a high-end phone on a pre-paid carrier. I found the phone through a personal seller so I didn't pay the company price for it, but even now I think the prices have become a little more reasonable for the phone. Cons: The battery life is TERRIBLE. I take my charger with me everywhere I go and am currently looking for a replacement battery with extended life. Some apps like Task Killer and Juice Defender help with shutting down apps that run automatically and in the background that drain your battery life as well. I get a few complaints about the quality of sound from people I talk on the phone with and I wouldn't advise using speaker phone if you want the other person to be able to understand you. Sometimes the buttons on the bottom (especially the "home" and "menu" buttons) stick and aren't responsive. Sometimes when I run YouTube it makes the phone behave oddly and lag, but shutting it off and on (IF you can get the menu to come up) does the trick. In my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons with this phone. I was debating between this and the HTC EVO 4G but with the 4G I felt like that 3D camera was where the bulk of the price came from, along with the fact that it is far more updated for customization purposes. I just needed a simple upgrade with this phone and that's what I got!Read full review
Went from an LG Optimus to this phone because I wanted a bigger screen and more internal memory. I love this phone and am so happy I got it. I used to have an iPhone as a company phone and this phone does everything the iPhone did at half the price. The only problem I have had so far is that once in a while the keys kinda freeze up, I'm not sure if it's the keys or the screen protector I put on the phone. I decided to get this phone after reading many reviews and am happy I did. It is nice not being locked into a cell phone contract. I had Verizon for many years and I have a friend who is still with them, they are paying twice what I pay per month for Virgin Mobile service for the same features I have on my cell plan. The phone works great too, and I have read that Virgin Mobile uses Sprint towers so the reception hasn't been a problem. My only real complaint with this phone is battery life, as with any smart phone, it just isn't there yet. Shouldnt be a problem if you have a car charger and an extra wall charger laying around. This is an excellent phone and I am very happy with it, I wanted to own it a couple months before I wrote a review on it. If you buy one of these you will not be sorry, nice big screen, excellent camera with flash and very fast, of course you can download just about any app out there and the Android operating sytem is great. Do yourself a favor and upgrade today, you wont be sorry.Read full review
definitely better than my first android phone, the screen resolution is more vivid color-wise, & larger too. i like the 720 resolution with the HDMI out, & longer battery life, along with the faster processor & thinner body. the 5 megapixel camera is definitely an improvement. with zooming capability & a light - but not exactly a flash as we know it, its better than nothing. the second camera facing the front is great for a face to face speaker phone chat. the feature i liked most is the microSD slot that holds up to 32GB of data including contacts, which makes switching phones a breeze. the feature i disliked most is the monaural media sound output. in times of surround sound technology, this part of the phone was left in the stone ages. i also dislike those bloatware that comes with virgin mobile's service. i am in the process of rooting this thing. my phone, my control, otherwise go with the iSheep crowd. Now 3 month into ownership, and having successfully rooted it, this is simply just a great phone. even though i seem to experience more drop calls than usual, the good still outweighs the bad. even though now i also own an atrix 4g, this is still my main smartphone for now.Read full review
By golly, I think I have finally gotten the cell phone that makes me happy. My choices were limited by being a Virgin customer, of course. I had the Optimus V and after using it for a year, decided I needed either a bigger screen or a slide-out keyboard. I tested an Optimus slider, but the keys seemed to be quite hard to pres - I could imagine getting pains in my thumb joints after a while! The Triumph seemed a bit heavy, but the bigger screen was a huge selling point. I took the plunge, and, after installing the free app Super Keyboard (the 'buttons' are a bit easier to hit and the auto-texting options are very good) I am able to thumb-text almost as well as when I had a Blackberry. And of course, there is more internal memory, AND it plays Flash! Nice. I bought higher capacity batteries to deal with the battery-life issue; other than that, I just have to learn to manage my apps more efficiently, and of course always have a spare and a charger just in case. I recommend installing a 'Task Killer' app to quickly close apps that insist on running even after you think you closed them. It does seem to hang up sometimes when I am hitting the 'go back' button, but I can skip that by hitting the 'home' button. Also, I have a problem trying to copy files directly to the SD card because it seems to want to be plugged into a high-power USB port, but even plugging into the one I have does not get my laptop to recognize the SD card. The one thing more I am considering is whether or not to root the phone so I can upgrade the OS. Otherwise, I just LOVE this phone. Like having a mini-tablet. And being on Virgin means I have unlimited text and data, plus I have 1000 minutes for $45. Such a deal.Read full review
Got mine during the holiday discounts for this model. Wound up getting one for the wife too(dumped older iphone too much$$ for new plus no more contracts). I had an older driod so everything was easy to transition including contacts. Nice big screen battery will drain like most of these larger droids...I keep a charger ready in the car and usb chord at the office and I've been fine. Have had two occasions where it responded odd during inputs but after a quick restart seems fine. Has more features than I will use. I do not play tons of games or download music other than free tones or rare times use a radio app. The network runs fine in the Phoenix market with no dead spots that I've found yet. Travel to Las Vegas, Denver and San Diego on the road and had just a few temporary signal drops while using google nav. Not bad for $45 month phone with no contract or surprises. I have had 2 times needed help during the porting and crediting and Virgin helped me out just fine. They don't bomb you with extras and offers every other day...just provides me the service. I would buy again.Read full review
