This is a review/comparison between the Sanyo Taho and Kyocera DuraXT (for Sprint)... The Taho responds a little faster than Kyocera phones, this is why I went back to Sanyo phones. It supports MMS so it has the ability to send and receive pictures/videos. Although there is no more video light I can use as a flashlight (available on the Kyocera DuraXT) I'm sure there is a flashlight app somewhere. Good informatiopn about using apps on these phones... BOOSTAPPS.COM has a ton of Java apps for these phones. They work great, there's radio apps, email apps, media players, Facebook, weather... etc. The phone is a little more stylish than the DuraXT although the speaker is not as loud as the DuraXT either. I wanted THIS phone because I've noticed that on the two Kyocera phones I've used so far, they respond slowly and when opening text messages, make sure they're not still coming in because on Kyocera phones, they crash. With a Sanyo imprint on this phone, I'm sure it'll work better than Kyocera phones. (Although it does say "by Kyocera" on the phone as well). I've NEVER had a freezing problem with my Sanyo phones... I've had like 6 Sanyo phones. I have not activated it yet, but I'm sure it'll run better! Has an SD card port under the battery. You can store music on the SD card and play it back on the speaker, earpeice or plug in a 2.5 headphone port (3.5 is the "norm" headphone port) or a 2.5 male to a 3.5 male headphone jack into the phone and listen to your music on the phone too! Did I mention it does videos too? I mean shooting videos AND YouTube! The vibration is strong, so you'll feel it. The phone is less bulky than the DuraXT and slightly lighter too! On Kyocera phones, you are NOT able to turn off the camera shutter sound... Since this is by Sanyo... YOU CAN! I'm happy that this is a feature because the noise is annoying and ridiculous. The screen size is a little smaller than previous Sanyo phones (i.e. Katana, Katana II, Mirro [SCP-3810] etc...), I'll miss that. This is the same size on the DuraXT + the Taho doesn't have pointless buttons on the top part of the phone like the DuraXT does. There was a speaker and call list button on the top, the Taho doesn't have them... And I'm glad! Every time I'd close my DuraXT, I'd accidentally hit the call history button on the top of the phone and when it's closed, it'd display THAT and not my clock... Useless buttons that are found INSIDE the phone anyway... This is NOT a direct connect phone and doesn't have the button for it. I will miss the use of that button on the side of the DuraXT--I didn't use direct connect, but I set it to when pressed, to bring up my alarm clocks... Taho has a speaker button on the side in place of that. The front light is blue, not green and red. I was told when you plug it in to the charger, it's steady blue, when DONE charging, it flashes blue. ALSO, the charger port--it's placed on the left shoulder of the phone near the hinge of the flip. This is convenient because the DuraXT has it in the same side, only on the bottom. What's nice about the Taho is that it isn't uncomfortable to use the phone while plugged in--whereas the DuraXT's port position will get in the way of your hand. That's all I've got to say about the Taho! I think I'm gonna like it!Read full review
I wanted to buy the SANYO TAHO but Sprint doesn't carry them any more. But a few months ago, I was with METOR PCS and I was not happy with their service after T-MOBLIE was bought them. So I decided to go with BOOST MOBLIE with their services, I got a SAMSUNG TOUCH CELLPHONE, but it was ok. I email to BOOST MOBLIE asking them what other cell phones can it be connect it, they email me a listing of brand names of cell phones that it can be connect it and one of the listing is the SANYO TAHO FLIP PHONE, so I decided to buy it on eBay and as soon as I received it in a package, I was very pleased that it was freak-in brad new. That next day I went to one of the BOOST MOBILE retail center to have it switch and it works. I always wanted it because how it feels and it's rugged phone that it makes you feel confident that nothing will happen it it. On the down side of the phone, the loading takes a while if you want to web surf and any photos that you have received, it can not use it for the main screen. How do I compare it to the others: like the KYOCERA DuraXT FLIP PHONE. This phone can take all kinds of abuse if you are a law enforcement, in the military, volunteer person or fun actives, this phone will do it. And I really enjoying it.Read full review

I am hard on phones and this one has all the durability needed for my line of work and lifestyle! Battery lasts forever it seems, but I bought two extra ones and I never run low on power for three days or longer even though I am on this phone for 5-6 hours some days! Charges EXTREMELY fast and the many settings make the phone do exactly what I need when I need it! One of the best designs I have used! It is not a smart phone....or is it smarter then the so-called ones of stupid high cost? This one is smart enough to know it is a PHONE and not a TYPEWRITER or KEYBOARD! THAT is pretty smart! Buy one, or two, if you can find them. You will not be disappointed I believe!

Fantastic phone. Audio a bit better with earpiece but otherwise the best phone I have owned. Easy to use, rugged. GPS, Email, text, voice, pictures and video all in a small flip phone with incredible battery life. And it is a phone not a small computer.
