This is a good phone with the all the features of Samsung Galaxy S2 international version. Phone has a excellent Super AMOLED display, an excellent quality 8Mp camera with LED flash which also supports 1080p HD video recording and 2Mp front facing camera, upgradable to Android 4.1.2 Jellybeans, 16 Gb internal memory. This phone never lags. I also like the design of the phone But this phones 4G network only supported in USA however not a big issue. This phone OS is customized one for AT&T. There for some features are missing such as Video calling. However you if you want you can root phone install a custom rom. The biggest thing I dislike about this phone is the battery life. When phone is in 3G mode battery discharges drastically. otherwise this phone is great phone.
The Galaxy S II Skyrocket is a fantastic unlocked smartphone for the money in today's market. I am running the Slim Bean Android 4.2.2 ROM on it connected to the Straight Talk AT&T MVNO network, and have not had any major problems with it. I'd highly recommend this phone if you do not want to be tied to a cellphone contract for years, and like to tinker and tweak with the operating system. The one major gripe I have with it is that Google Wallet won't work with the NFC (Near Field Communication) capability on the phone.
I needed a phone to do my work on, like a handheld computer with at least a 5" screen for the sake of my eyes, because cellular internet is all you get in some locations. My main concern is enough ram and connectivity. I send out a lot of photos per hour over the data and I don't want to wait to long. After looking at the specs of Sony, Nokia, HTC, Samsung, and a bunch of random others I decided to stick with Samsung and the choices got narrowed down to the Galaxy second generation because the third did not offer any significant improvements for the prices they are asking for in used phones. I was willing to pay up to $300. With that said the Galaxy Skyrocket was going for around $360 to 80 at the time of this writing... but I am patient and snagged a buy it now for $290! (PRICE DROP!!! A M AZ O N now has em for $359) OK, second Gen has a few models as the carriers competed for your money. Be aware that the specs vary from carrier to carrier as each one promoted theirs being the fastest, prettiest, biggest or smallest etc... I was introduced to the US factory unlocked ATT version Skyrocket... Not much bigger than the Galaxy 2 it has a better processor more ram and slightly larger screen. (Not the European version) I had the Galaxy S Vibrant prior to this so I noticed the upgrades in programming. Some things were missing like my contacts list, and at first I hated that but then I realized they were intuitively better where they were now located in the phone. (one program to rule them all) I like the dashboard widget were I can quick change settings and monitor battery without searching the the apps.AND they have a program installed where I can set it to save battery power. I actually went for three hours after the phone said "Plug me in" because the program is set to kick in at 20% battery and it turns off all the internal energy sappers you aren't using. I was amazed. The phone is not the smallest or largest one and it will fit in your pocket if you don't have those new style "half pockets" in some of the fashion jeans. The runner up here was the ATT Infuse which has similar programming as my old phone. When I had them side by side, the Skyrocket scrolling and app changing was much faster and didn't "hitch" like the Infuse did, which is a sign the processor can't keep up. (Think old 32 mb computer vs new hot souped up gaming computer...yeahhhhhhh you get it.) I got the white version so be aware the backgrounds are all light colored so if you're messaging and you're wondering why it looks so weird, you've gone to the light side baby, If you prefer dark backgrounds stick to the darkside.... (HEY, I can HEAR you breathing!) So, what don't I like about this phone.... well future world, where's my solar battery pack and silent hover car... That's about it.Read full review
I just transfered form iOS to android. I want the best phone on the market ( in terms of looks and functionality ) and the Skyrocket was the winner. As far as high end Android phones go ( uo till now ) the Galaxy note is the fastest, but that could only be used by a basketball player and put in a purse or a breefcase ( my pockets are not that deep ). Galaxy nexus is fast and gets updates earlyer, but it is not superior to the Galaxy s II. The galaxy S II has better camera and is the fastest phone on the market (except for the note). The international version has better dev support ( a larger variety of roms) but it looks like those square shapes i used to draw in preschool. Skyrocket looks amazing, has a larger 4.5'screen and plus that it has 4G LTE. The only cons is the battery life, but what would you expect form a large 4.5 inch super amoled+ screen. Battery lasts for 24 hours, and with the correct ROM up to 2-3 days at best. Upgrading the phone to android 4.0.3 increases performance with about +5% and makes it as fast as the galax note, and being on a lower resolution (would not care hor a higher res display) makes the phone respond even faster. ATT Skyrocket and Tmobile Galaxy SII are the best choices a person could make for the time beingRead full review
