I was just browsing Ebay when I saw this Dell Venue Pro and would love to try it for the first time, when I got it I was pretty amazed by the Chrome sleek design of the phone, I never had issue when it comes to texting because it never freezes unlike other Android phones that I've tried. I love it when I open the slide and there's a physical qwerty keyboard and if i get tired of the keyboard i can use the touch keyboards on the screen. Very sleek and I might say a lot of good qualities especially when watching YouTube, images on the screen is crystal clear for me. Two down sides I can mention is first you can't download Google Play store and second, the picture quality is not that impressive, it's hard to do the auto focus to get crispy clear pictures because the picture appears to be blurry even if in close up shots. I was surprised that you cannot insert any micro sd for larger memory capacity but I guess 8 GB of internal memory is enough for me. Over all I love this product inspite of the two down sides I mentioned to you guys. I am planning on getting another one for my sister anyway. If you're after a good phone but not into taking a lot of photos, just keeping updated with emails and texts and making calls this is the phone for you. Good battery life also.Read full review
Bottom line first: It's a good purchase for 450$ as of Nov 2010 Engineering compromises come at a cost so it's a big and cumbersome phone and a too small tablet, But both devices are functioning properly in one small package. The screen is a fingerprints trap but doesn't scratch (Gorilla glass I guess)and the battery lasts only several hours with full use of Wifi, bluetooth, 3G end everything but gets reloaded in minutes via the USB 30 pin cable. Speaker is very load and good but the handset's voice had medium quality. Camera is much worst then my Nokia E72, although it's a 5M as well. Sensors are very good, GPS is quick to relocate. Bluetooth stack is vary fast ans so is touchscreen reaction time. Dell Home screen application is buggy and if you outlast the battery and the phone shuts itself, you have to reset the battery (pull it out and replace it) so you can operate the phone again. All in all minor nuisances and a pleasure to use.Read full review
The Dell streak is an excellent mix between a phone and a Tablet with the 5" LCD Display. The construction of it is pretty decent although it should be better considering this is a $600 device. The LCD Gorilla Glass withstands scratches and it is supposed to be pretty tough but if you drop it and it lands on its side it will break very easily. Mine felt from like 20" high and broke like a piece of cracker. Most of them are still coming with android 1.6 although there is a Froyo update already rolling out. Overall it fills pretty well on your hand and the voice call quality is up to the task. From a scale from 1 to 5, 5 been the highest score, I will give it a 3.
It tries to do a little bit of everything but as a result doesn't do anything better than what's already out there. Camera is very average and you may have to wait till Feb 2011 to update to Froyo 2.2, but it at least offers decent multitasking and the size will grow on you. If you don't mind the camera, want something that does fairly well in multitasking (13 things at once inculding 4 web pages), and don't mind going thru forums to bring out its true value or are willing to wait for firmware updates, then its the phone for you. Otherwise get something else, but for me though I like it so far and am willing to put in the effort so not much biggie
I bought this phone to handle all my email accounts. Setting up Exchange 2010 was really easy. As suggested by many out there, I bought a SanDisk Class 10 Micro SD (red) and was able to upgrade it to 32GB with no trouble. Battery life with no WiFi enabled and medium to heavy use of email downloads, lasts the whole day. Wifi sucks its life really fast! There are plenty of Applications and more are being developed day by day. Netflix works great! Wake Up Alarm very reliable! no more bulky radio alarms! When connected to a pc, it uses the zune software for updates and most transfers; I was lucky to find a pc registry hack to have direct access to the phone, now I do drag & drop of music and photos! Sliding Keyboard is a +! WiFi works great for secured and unsecured networks, but unfortunately Windows 7.5 (mango) is not capable of connecting to hidden networks and no development is being done to make it so. Also, Mango is not upgradeable to Windows 8...shame! I can live with it, so I'm a satisfied customer.Read full review
