This is the best "affordable" unlocked phone available. Well made, shock-resistant, and works very well. LTE works great on AT&T network. Very surprised that AT&T's 4G(LTE) and 3G service and coverage is that good, because a few short years ago it was certainly not. Android versions are available up to and including Kit-Kat (4.4), which is the latest version as of this writing. Phone is usually easily root-able (your mileage may vary). Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work well and are highly compatible with different access points and devices. Camera is also very good. Biggest con is battery life and, perhaps, the "bloat-ware" that comes with some phones. Good idea to have a charged spare battery on-hand. The battery is easily switched out, a big plus. If you do get a spare battery (recommended!), try and get a genuine Samsung battery - beware of counterfeits (hard to tell 'em, I know). I recommend a good case that covers the sides and corners, both to prevent cosmetic damage and damage to the guts of the phone. You will have to fuss with Android more than you would with an iPhone, but IMO it's worth it in "customize-ability". If you want to just grab a phone and go, perhaps you do want an iPhone, but if you want to customize features, a bigger screen, and an interchangeable battery, for the price this phone is hard to beat.... Additional notes: if you want to use an alternate GSM carrier besides AT&T (Straight Talk, Tracfone, etc.), prepare to change the APN (Access Point Name) in the phone's settings to get Internet access via the cellular network. This may take some time, but it usually ends up just fine.Read full review
Beautiful Samsung cell phone, it is the older model but still one of the highest rated cell phones. Simple to use well built design. The photos are clear, video is great, sound quality in a call great. This is my favorite phone for older people, easy to teach them and fun use. This model doesn't make them feel dumb. Replacement parts are easy to find. Great cell phone.

I've had several cell phones. The 'flip'... seemed like they didn't get good reception. Plus the idea of the hunt and peck trying to find letters on the number pad. Texting took a very long time.... This phone~ is awesome. I'm finding new things it will do every day. I'm very satisfied with it. The 4.. The 5 and even the new one the Galaxy 6 or 7... a larger screen might be nice but all in all the S3 is a really good phone. Smaller to fit in areas that the newer larger ones won't! I had to look up the data to enter into the APNs info... After that I was able to send images... I don't have a list of cons at this time. with a decent screen saver and a good case.. I bought the body glove and I love it. I also had the Otter Box. I favor the Body Glove. I would recommend this phone.

Overall it's a great phone. It has some excellent features that are very forward thinking. The battery life is average compared to most smart phones. Sound quality is only ok. I've read that one of the dual microphones have given a few customers some issues. I haven't had a problem so far, so fingers crossed. It's expensive if you buy it brand new but worth it if you can find a good deal on a used one. Would rate it 5/5.
PROS: Light weight, large bright screen, LTE and 4G, clear reception CONS: Added memory doesn’t seamlessly expand the built in memory. You must designate where you want stuff stored, on the phone or the MicroSD card. MY TAKE: Much better than the iPhone I replaced with it. Good bang for the buck since the improvements in the S4 and S5 are minimal and not worth the significantly higher cost!
