The Tracfone LG840g phone is considered a "dumb" phone as it lacks smart phone attributes. However, it is a great little phone for anyone wanting to save money & still have a phone with many features of a smart phone. The 3.5 inch screen is easy to see, it has a sturdy case and is easy to hold onto. Comes with Bluetooth & WiFi capabilities. Battery life is good & easily & quickly recharges. The only bad thing about this phone is that you cannot move your SIM card from one phone to another when you upgrade or even if you are trying to move it to another phone of the same make & model. Tracfone codes it's SIM card with the particular phone's Serial Number so that it is incompatible with another phone. A new SIM card must be purchased & any info on your existing SIM is lost.

This is the fourth time that I have purchased this phone—twice for myself. The one that I had lasted for approximately 2 ½ years before it became unusable. Basically, the power button stopped working for no apparent reason. I decided to give it another try. After all, the phones that I had gifted were still working and maybe it was just mine that had the defect. Anyway, what I first liked about this phone was the small size, nice appearance, and features. This phone has a good camera, video, and music player. Also, it has Bluetooth and internet capabilities—just make sure to use glasses for the latter. Overall, it is not a bad bargain for all it includes. It does have triple minutes for life and the minutes also rollover. To be completely honest, it is worth buying as long as you find it at a cheap price. Otherwise, go for the newer and better models.Read full review
This is a "feature phone", not a "smart phone". It won't run Android, Windows, or iOS apps. There are some Java apps on the web that are available for it, but they often don't work well. The phone comes with some built-in apps that will be adequate for most casual users. Simple email, a browser, calendar, etc. I was surprised at how well the camera works, and the battery keeps a charge for a long time. But if you want to expand the features with other apps, be sure to search for a forum on the LG840G and read what other people have discovered. Otherwise, you'll be very frustrated. The wifi feature is very nice when browsing the internet, because it saves minutes (which you have to pay for). But at certain hotels and coffee shops that require a password or require you to agree to their terms of service before you can connect to the internet, the phone won't connect to the wifi. In those situations, you can still connect with 3g and use up minutes, of course. And getting triple the minutes you actually pay for certainly makes the 3G connection less costly. If you intend to use a mobile phone mostly for talk and texting and occasional email, this is a good choice. Or if you like tinkering with technology devices, you'll have some fun and learn a few things. But if you want to be able to download scores of apps you find in normal app stores or hear about from retailers, you'd be disappointed. Finally, the phone won't play YouTube or most other online videos unless you edit them first on a computer and then download them to the phone.Read full review
If you are looking for a standard touch screen phone to serve it's purpose and not all the extras this is it. It will dial very easily in your pocket and use up your minutes so you have to make sure you lock it. The internet uses up far to many minutes to quickly so I won't be using that feature. I just wanted a phone to talk and text when friends or family needed to get ahold of me. I think the 50 dollar unlimited plans would be better but for those who can't afford that I would recommend trac phone. I am happy with mine.
The LG840G replaced the standard free cell phones and I keep the same service(s) so it definitely is an upgrade. It's super sensitive to touch. This is the only area that occasionally is frustrating. I don't have use for all of the features the Android/Smartphones offer so I am more than content with the 840G. It compares to the newer phones in that it has the same features (touch, scroll, VM keyboard etc.). 3G is adequate for me. Music Player is awesome. The only downside is that it only supports MP3. Battery charge time of a depleted battery is standard (approx 2hrs). I added a headphone amp which tremendously increases that value of the LG-840G. All in all, I'm a happy camper.
