This cellular phone is a bit dated for 2011, but the feature set that is offered is better than purchasing a standard "feature" phone that is pushed at the lower end of many cell carriers' rosters these days. This phone was originally meant to be a 3G smartphone from AT&T and other carriers, and before the Android and iPhone systems hit the market, Windows Mobile was the smartphone operating system of choice for cell companies. While this means the phone is not competitive with today's offerings, it can certainly hold its own. First, the good about the phone. It is incredibly light, and the sliding mechanisms are strong, so the phone doesn't have the "cheap" feeling many phones of its ilk have. The Windows Mobile 6.5 interface, while better developed for a touch screen model, is easy to navigate using the front mounted buttons. The directional pad and pseudo-shoulder buttons are great for getting around the various menus, and a dedicated home button can get you back to the main page quickly. Call quality is good, but may leave you wanting a bit more reception in outlying areas. The phone here in the US operates on AT&T's 3G network, so coverage should be theoretically strong everywhere, but the phone has trouble finding signals in spots. When it's working as it should, however, calls are crisp and clean, thanks to a well built earpiece. The phone is not awkward to handle while on the line with someone, and the speakerphone works well, although the highest volume setting can lead to some slight distortion. Now, the demerits. While this is a few years old phone, one would consider that there would be a slew of good applications to at least make it function as a smartphone should. Sadly, many app makers have discontinued developing for Windows Mobile and are concentrating on Windows Phone 7 and the Android / iOS markets. You can still find good functional apps - but you might work a bit for it. There is not a strong Java runtime on this phone, either, so those wanting to play their favorite java cellular games may need to find a different runtime as well before loading their apps on the phone. Speaking of, loading things onto and off of the device is made easy with a top-mount microSD slot reader. Considering many of it's brethren of the time had the expansion slots buried under batteries or internally, this is a nice surprise. It cannot handle SDHC from my testing, however, so Class 2 cards and those under 4 GB are recommended. And you'll need one, as the phone only has appx. 80 MB of internal user storage for apps, ringers, etc. Overall, if you're looking to get a basic smartphone to replace a broken one or get a basic service from AT&T without needing to buy a smartphone on the high end, give this one a whirl.Read full review
I bought this to replace my previous phone because the touchscreen refused to work most of the time. I am a big text-er, and my phone would tell me I had messages but refuse to let me open them! I saw the Pantech Duo C810 and loved that there were two keyboards, QWERTY and number pad. I chose to buy this phone instead of a newer phone solely for the keyboards. The Windows formatting is confusing and the phone is not very easy to function. I can run several other types of phones blind-folded, but this one took a lot of figuring out. I thought around the center button was going to be where you can swirl your thumb to function the phone, but it is not; it's plain up/down/over arrows which are also temperamental. I would have to try to click it many times, and end up everywhere but where I wanted to go. The phone with all keyboards closed is much smaller than I had expected, and the specifications I saw did not clarify that you cannot have both keyboards out at the same time, which was something I was excited for. I do like the look of the phone and, as mentioned many times, the dual keyboard ! The ease of the keyboards themselves are awesome. I knew before I purchased it that it didn't have a touchscreen and I really did not think that would bother me, but I found it irritating still to not have that feature. I did not get good reception with it, and almost always lost my calls. When I did have successful calls, the volume was very low even turned up all the way, and crackly. I did buy this phone USED, so it may not be the case with a new one! This is a cute, older, little phone with the uncommon two keyboards that I loved. But with all of the downfalls, I am not using this phone. I spent my money on this one expecting a nice Christmas gift and instead had to buy another phone anyway.Read full review
This phone cannot compete with the iphone compatables on the internet but for talk and text it does a pretty good job. The camera is not that great but it is functional and it can be used as a camcorder. i keep buying them because I have my contacts on windows mobile on my computer and when I break one the only way I can get my contacts on the new phone is to buy the same brand. the keyboard works better than touch screen for texting and it is smaller and easier to replace than a touch screen phone. It tends to call people when it is in its case though whick is a pain in the butt no pun intended.
This is a pretty good phone. I bought this phone for my son and he really likes it. He primarily uses it for texting but that is what young people like to do. Still it has a lot of features and is really easy to use.
Having a sim card and no wifi is the only drawback. The phone itself is a very expensive taste. It has windows mobile operating system and is very unique with dual text pad/ dial pad.
